There are health studies on soy lecithin. Use at your own risk. I returned the bag I bought and won't be buying Nestle's again or anything that is now using the blanket word, Bioengineered (BE) ingredient. Read, read, read the ingredients!

However, for a chocolate treat/cheat, a tablespoon of chocolate chips can be stretched out over quite a while, if you let them dissolve in your mouth, one at a time, every several minutes.
Diet food?
GayleOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review1/14/2021I've been baking for 50+ years. The semi sweet chocolate chips now have a horrible taste. Something changed a while back. Right about the time packaging changed to a more robust plastic. Package materials are different and the bag states "now creamier." They do not taste the same!! They do not melt the same way!! I kept trying them, thinking I just got a bad batch. I make chocolate chip cookies every few weeks. I'm sorry to say I will not be buying them again
Horrible taste

I've used them for years but finally giving up since it's just not worth spending an hour trying to melt chips. I've switched to Ghiradelli chips. They melt perfectly to a smooth and glossy finish. Totally willing to pay the higher price for something that works well, looks better and even tastes better. Bye, Nestle ☹️
Giving up Nestle for good.

I also like to add some white chocolate chips to my recipe...you use to have the raspberry chips that my husband loved but I can't seem to find them anymore...will you bring them back?
Can snack on these
LynnieOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017These are the best chocolate chips to use for cookies and more. You can count on the original cookies plus an additional recipe to be on the back. Consistency is key. You can always know these pieces are going to be uniform and have the same taste every single time.
Dependable
LeesaOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review12/19/2016I think they changed something in the ingredients or source. I've had major problems with these semi-sw choc chips for the last year or so & have stopped using them. Have wasted a lot of time and money on fudge recipe that used to work like a dream. This is a recipe we have used for over 45 years and have never had problems with it. I've literally made this recipe hundreds of times. Now the chips don't melt completely, no matter how long you cook them. This recipe requires essentially boiling evap milk, butter and marshmallows for like 5 min, removing the pan from the heat and stirring in the chocolate chips. What results now are little gritty pieces of chocolate that don't melt....even if you put it back on the stove. Gross. I have had thi...

I've tried other brands that can't compare to these rich, melty, and perfectly sweet chocolate chips! The perfect addition to cookies, cakes, brownies, and more! We love Nestle Tollhouse!
Our tried, and true chocolate chips!

Love this product
Tigg94Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/29/2020I used to steal these from my moms baking cabinet all the time, so I bought some to snack on. However, they stated much different than I remember not necessarily bad but not what I was hoping for, I like them more bitter like higher cocoa content. What's the highest cocoa content you sell? And are there vegan options.
I love the semi sweets but

As always, I bought a number of bags to make some treats for 2 events. I can not get this chocolate to melt! My fudge had unmelted chocolate chips in it, and I used the mini ones hoping they would melt faster. My toffee was a mess after a put the chocolate chips on top and it also would not melt nor spread. I put the bars back on in the oven to try to melt the chocolate, but ended up ruining the entire batch. I am switching to Hershey's and hope that it works like Nestle's use to. The Holidays are coming and I can't afford to be making treats that are not edible. You need to return to your original recipe!
What is going on???

For years, yes I said years I've had no trouble microwaving these wonderful chocolate chips but this past Easter, when making chocolate covered eggs I could not get the chips to melt to a useable melted texture. I ruined more than one bag of chips. It now requires much more babysitting sorry to say. And just so you know I have not changed microwaves.
Not quite like they used to be!
AnnieErieOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/11/2024Nestle Semi-Sweet Morsels have been around for decades and are in my opinion, the best chocolate chips out there. Consistently, their quality has been high. When making chocolate chip cookies, the Morsels retain their shape while baking, yet are creamy and smooth when enjoying the cookies. Of course, why limit yourself to only using them for cookies. These Chocolate Chips are perfect to use for a lot of other things: toss some into pancakes, brownies, melt to make a chocolate glaze or frosting, or just a quick snack. If you are making candy, they melt very well, allowing you to easily dip candies in for coating. Looking at the package I noticed something new, there is a Rainforest Alliance seal. This seal stands for more "sustainable farmin...

ChellOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 2 out of 5 stars review9/20/2021I cannot use these chips until I know EXACTLY what each ingredients that fall under 'natural ingredients' as I am allergic to ALL forms of citric acid which is often used in all types of food as a 'natural' preservative or for a sour kick if added in large amounts as in sour candy. Does anyone know if these contain citric acid? I do not like companies lumping ingredients together under 'natural ingredients'. I have a lot of food allergies that are not typical. This is why I have to cook myself so that I know exactly what's in my food. Nestle please list ALL ingredients whether they are 'natural' or not. I really had to select a star rating. The rating is only based on not knowing ALL ingredients. I don't remember Nestle adding 'natural ingr...

Been my favorite cookie for as long as I can remember
jasaltOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017Have been using Nestle Toll House morsels for many years. Have never been disappointed. Anytime a bag of morsels even graces the counter, a herd of drooling faces watch every move you make and come out of the woodwork! Am never without at least 4 bags in the pantry at all times.
A staple
Jeannie23Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/4/2017I buy nestle toll house chips all the time. I add them to pancakes for a delicious morning treat or to my brownies to give them a little extra zip. My chocolate chip cookies are requested by all children and there friends. Nestle chocolate is always a part ofthe baking.
My go to chocolate
Patty motherof5Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review6/16/2019I'm very unhappy with the chocolate chips. Yesterday I purchased mini morsels and regular semi sweet chocolate chips to use in several recipes I've made for years. In all of my years as a professional and home baker I've never had chocolate seize up like it did yesterday. I tried different methods hoping it would produce a different result. Double boiler, microwave, warm cream over room temp chips, all produced the same horrible result. I'm reluctant to use them again after this experience.
Disappointed
HeathAZOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/17/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the semi-sweet morsels to bake my favorite chocolate chip cookies! They added the perfect chocolate flavor to the buttery base. Definitely a quality product that I will be using again and recommending to everyone!
Semi-sweet at its finest!
