- 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017I love to bake, happy to see friends and family see the fruits of my labor. And more than that, I am a chocoholic! Nestle's Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, known as "chips" in my house, is my go to product. I have used them in chocolate chip cookies, of course, as well as for frosting, adding them to brownies and the mini chips to cakes such as banana loaf, chocolate bundt cakes, coffee cakes, etc. Even picking them by the handfuls and eating them. So when you want the very best, it's Nestles, no doubt!
The Very Best Chocolate
I have no nicknameOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 4 out of 5 stars review2/24/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Nestlé tollhouse semi sweet morsels in a batch of cookies that I made. The bag came with plenty of the product, I had more than enough. I liked the not as sweet taste of the semi sweet, however, it was a little less sweet than I usually like in my cookies. It has a vibrant chocolately taste and the cookies came out great! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I prefer the milk chocolate morsels. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
Great to cook with!
Erika88Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017Every Christmas I make Toffee Bark. It is a butter brickle bottom with toasted almonds in it. I then lay Nestle Semi Sweet chips on top while it is still hot. Spread out the chocolate with a spoon and sprinkle on more toasted almonds. Everyone in my family waits for it and always expects a tin of it to take home. Once you start eating it you can't stop. Nestle semi sweet chips are the only chips to use for this recipe in my opinion.
The only chocolate chips to purchase in my opinion

Nothing else tastes the same or bakes up as well as Nestle does! I do favor the mini morsels for bars and cookies I make. I have for many years been using the break apart cookie dough. They are so convenient and super delicious when you want a treat and want it without the hassle of mixing up a homemade batch. I have taught my daughters to trust Nestle products as well! They are in college and make cookies often! Just a wonderful product and so tasty!
Dependable Trustworthy Product
Annie828Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 2 out of 5 stars review12/4/2018Ingredients are same but listed in different order it usually means measurements have changed which has an effect on taste. Why was it necessary to change packaging when it was so readily recognizable? I kept looking for the old one as did others standing in line. When a brand as popular as Nestle Toll House changes it's packaging for no reason, one just naturally gets suspicious and no longer trusts the brand.
Ingredients In Different Order
BgBlOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/7/2024I received this item as a free item for review purposes and this is my own opinion of item as I used it in my cookie baking. I have tried other brands of chocolate chips for baking chocolate chip cookies and have always come back to Nestle Toll House because the chips have always been the right amount of sweetness for me. I would always follow the recipe on the package as it produces the best cookies. Only exception is that I also add some shaved unsweetened chocolate (1/2 cup to 1 cup depending on how much bitter chocolate you want in the cookies) as it adds another dimension to the chocolate chip cookies. So the semi sweet chips with the unsweetened shaved chocolate makes the cookie much more delectable. Give it a try you will be quite ha...
Best chocolate chips for your baking needs
CrystalOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/27/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and a cranberry chocolate chip sweet bread. Both were excellent with the addition of the semi sweet chocolate chips. I received this product for free for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.
Semisweet chocolate chips
CarolOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/26/2024Nestlé Toll House Semi-sweet Chocolate Morsels! You can pay more than $2 each for delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries, or make them yourself just how you like them. Melt ¾ cup of chips and ½ tsp shortening in the microwave or over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth. Dip strawberries, graham crackers, or apple or pear slices in the mixture. Let set in the refrigerator. So easy! I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.
Great quality at a great price
AdelaOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017In the past I wasn't in a position to be so picky, but when I could I always chose Nestlé's Tollhouse because it was the familiar, what I grew up with. But financially now I could have anything I really want when I making something special, but I still choose to Toll House because it's the best.
Nothing better for baking
nmrossiOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/21/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these morsels to make my chocolate chip cookies. These are my first choice brand and add so much more flavor to my recipe. They have a smooth texture and no bitter aftertaste like some other brands I have tried! My cookies turn out so much better with Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.
Perfect Morsels for my cookies
LoloOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 2 out of 5 stars review10/20/2019Twice I've made scotcheroos. I have to melt butterscotch chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips together. I've had issues making the chocolate topping in both batches! There must be something that has changed. If it's not with the recipe maybe it's with shipping? Or are they getting too hot or too cold while they're made? Something has definitely changed with these chocolate chips and butterscotch chips.
Melting troubles

They are, in fact, the best tasting cookie I have ever had. I am now 54 years old and when my mother asks what I would like for Christmas I always ask for a batch of Toll House Cookies, It wouldn't be the Holidays without them.
A Taste of Home
Bill725Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite in my house. Nestle's Toll House Morsels are my go to semi sweet morsels. They taste great and melt just right to make my cookies the best. I've tried other chocolate chips in the past but I have never gotten the results I get with Nestle. Now whenever I have a recipe requiring chocolate morsels, Nestle is the brand I choose.
Always a staple in my kitchen
harmony414Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/31/2017Created a Halloween Smore's Dip using Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips. Poured them into a metal pie pan and baked them at 300 degrees until they were soft. I stirred them and smoothed them on the bottom of the pieplate then placed PEEP white ghosts on top. Placed this under the broiler for a few minutes until the marshmallows had started to melt and brown. Served it with graham crackers. The dip was gone very quickly. Since PEEP makes marshmallows for every holiday, you can create this dip year round..but make sure you use the very best chocolate chips - NESTLE semi-sweet morsels!!!!!
Best Smore's Dip Ever!
TrojanmamaOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/24/2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family has been using Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels all my life (I am 65). I am avid baker and I always buy Nestle's products because they produce high quality baked goods that taste wonderful. When people at work hear that I have baked something (especially something with Nestle's chocolate), they always take the time to tell me how much they enjoy what I made. I think when people take the time to let you know they enjoy something, you know it has to be good ... and it is good because I use Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.
Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels
Corvette's MomOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/26/2025They melt nicely in the microwave, always taste delicious! Particularly enjoy them in these cookies: 8oz choc chips, melted. Stir in 1 cup spanish peanuts, 1 cup chow mein noodles. Spoon bite size drop onto wax paper on cookie sheet, refrigerate. In a couple hours they are solid and can be stored in a container in refrigerator.
Love Nestle's semi & dark chocolates!
TMDFOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2017I use Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips every time I have a recipe that calls for chocolate chips. I will often times add them to recipes even when they are not called for. I love to experiment from time to time but adding different ingredients to cakes, cupcakes, cookies and bread recipes. Nestle chips are always good and of good quality. My kids and co-workers love chocolate so Semi-sweet, milk chocolate and white chocolate chips are always on hand so I can add them. It's very rare that I don't have any on hand for inclusion in my baking.
Who doesn't love chocolate?
wheels59Originally posted onverybestbaking.com - 4 out of 5 stars review7/23/2025I have used this product for YEARS and am always happy with whatever I bake using it. But . . . in the last few years, the bag has shrunk in weight. And the price has almost doubled! The recipe for Nestle chocolate chip cookies hasn't changed but the amount of chips in the bag has. You need to buy 2 bags to get enough chips in your cookies. It's all about the $$$.
The bag contents keep shrinking!!
orphanannieOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 1 out of 5 stars review11/20/2018Had to change my recipe and went to gharadelli chips. Don't waste your money on these. They added cellulose or something to keep them from melting. Won't admit it to us as I have called. Put the glob in the bag and return to store. Let them eat that junk choc. 50 year old recipe, no changes tomy recipe.
Won't melt since 2016
RenrowOriginally posted onverybestbaking.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/17/2014Have used them to bake tollhouse chocolate chip cookies since I was a little girl - nothing else in the world compares to a freshly baked tollhouse chocolate chip cookie!! Asked Swiss friends (we are expats now) what to bring for Christmas dinner and that's what they asked for!!
Best ever for snacking or baking!!
