I've been baking for 50+ years. The semi sweet chocolate chips now have a horrible taste. Something changed a while back. Right about the time packaging changed to a more robust plastic. Package materials are different and the bag states "now creamier." They do not taste the same!! They do not melt the same way!! I kept trying them, thinking I just got a bad batch. I make chocolate chip cookies every few weeks. I'm sorry to say I will not be buying them again

As always, Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels taste delicious. They are creamy, just the right amount of sweet and melt perfectly for any cooked food or dessert you might want to make. I used my bag to bake a batch of Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies for my family. I have attached a photo. By the time I reached for my camera to take a photo, there were about a dozen cookies remaining on the plate. They went fast. My family practically inhaled them! Luckily, I won't have to worry about the homemade cookies keeping their freshness - there aren't many left! Thank you for my free sample bag!

These are the classic chocolate chips that are the benchmark for any recipe that calls for semi-sweet chocolate chips. They have a nice, smooth texture that microwaves well for recipes that call for melted chocolate and melt in your mouth when you eat them straight from the bag. I've used generic and store brand chocolate chips but I always come back to these because of their flavor.

Something has definitely changed with these semi-sweet chips. I have used the same recipes for almost 40 years. This year every recipe that I used semi-sweet chips in was ruined. They will not melt and leave a grainy texture. There are little black chunks throughout and the taste of the finished product is different. I am very disappointed with Nestle and wonder if this is something you are trying to fix. I am very disappointed that I will not be able to give candy trays for the holidays. I am out a lot of money for all of the wasted ingredients in all of my recipes.

They were barely out of the oven before they were gobbled up. The bag was plenty big enough for me to bake with enough left for snacking!

True confession time: I'm 70 years old and have been baking almost that long. Over the years, I've tried other chocolate chips. But I always come back to Tollhouse semi-sweet... and then I wonder why I tried anything else! No wonder people love my baking I received a free product for this review but this did not influence my opinion. #freesample

I, too, believe the packaging has changed. The wrapping is a different type of material and the size of the bag is smaller. Toll House is always my go-to chocolate chip so please go back to what we might call the "old school original " packaging including the recipes. Thanks

I looked on this site to see if others had had the same issues as me with trying to get the semi-sweet chocolate chips to melt. I have tried multiple methods over the course of several weeks trying to get these to melt for different projects but to no avail. Even over a double boiler with no moisture in the chocolate and added vegetable oil they won't melt properly! The chocolate seems to seize but unlike typical chocolate that has been overheated and seized it's not gritty it just is stiff and difficult to work with. Works okay when added to cookies etc. but I will not try to use these again for melting. Very disappointed.

I made a giant cookie cake for my daughters 14th birthday. We used to be able to buy these in the mall but it's been gone a long time so I was so happy to find this recipe. The Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels are a perfect addition to this giant cookie. There is no downside!

My family has used Nestle chocolate chips for years. I remember my mom baking chocolate chip cookies using Nestle. Now I have passed the tradition along to my children. I love that you can use them in many recipes or just grab a handful out of the bag when you need that chocolate pick-me-up!
