Can't be beat

I actually worked at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, MA as a cashier, but I don't actually remember eating a cookie there for some reason. I still have the old Toll House recipe where you added a teaspoon of water to the cookie dough! I make them the "new" way, though, without the water and won't vary from it!

Classic for a reason

Still the best for making the classic chocolate chip cookies while being easy to use in any recipe that uses semisweet chocolate. Easy to melt in the microwave or chop into smaller pieces for different applications. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own.

These are NOT the same chips as before!

What happened? C'mon Nestle...admit that you tinkered with your recipe and the quality of your semi-sweet chocolate chips and hoped nobody would notice! These have always been my favorite chips. It's been a couple years since I made chocolate chip cookies, and I was craving some, so I bought a bag of these chips, and I almost spit them out! These are not the same chips I've eaten all my life! The color has changed. The taste has changed. They used to be very dark...almost black, and they were more bitter and chocolaty. Now they are just a regular brown and taste like they have less cocoa in them. They don't have the same mouth feel either. I used to love snacking on these right out of the bag, but I can't do it with these. I also bought a bag of the Nestle milk chocolate chips, and they have changed too! It's hard to tell the difference between the semi-sweet and the milk chocolate now. Oh, Nestle...you should have raised your prices rather than cheapening your quality! Unfortunately, I'll be looking for another brand from now on! So sad!

Admit they're different!

As I can see from so many of these reviews, I'm not going nuts either! I don't bake now as much as I used to, and every time I've tried to make recipes that were wonderful (once upon a time) lately, I thought it was me! That I was somehow not making them right. I always blame myself first. I made some toll house cookies today. Yuck. What a waste of time and materials (and $). Won't be making them with Nestle's morsels any more. This is the first time since Christmas that I've tried using them in a recipe. I thought I must have made some kind of mistake then as well, and as a result, haven't been especially inspired to try again. They have changed. They are not at all the same product we used to rely on. What a darn shame. Their taste and texture are totally different. If you've done this to cut corners, you're making a mistake! If keeping them the same means they're more expensive - most people would probably gladly pay a bit more for the quality we've come to rely upon. If I could have given them less than one star - I would have! How could you?

Please bring back the old semi-sweet chips

I have used Nestle semi-sweet morsels to bake cookies for more than 40 years. I normally love them. But I just baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies using you new creamier chips, and they taste awful. I had to discard the entire batch of cookies because the chocolate chips do not taste good and they have an unpleasant texture. My time baking the cookies was wasted - and the cookies were supposed to be part of a birthday gift, so now I have to figure out something else to make. My entire family agrees - the chips taste bad and the cookies are ruined. I'm very disappointed. Please go back to the way you used to make the chocolate chips... and let me know when you do, so I can begin purchasing them again. Thank you.

What is going on???

I have noticed that I have had trouble melting the semi-sweet and the milk chocolate. As always, I bought a number of bags to make some treats for 2 events. I can not get this chocolate to melt! My fudge had unmelted chocolate chips in it, and I used the mini ones hoping they would melt faster. My toffee was a mess after a put the chocolate chips on top and it also would not melt nor spread. I put the bars back on in the oven to try to melt the chocolate, but ended up ruining the entire batch. I am switching to Hershey's and hope that it works like Nestle's use to. The Holidays are coming and I can't afford to be making treats that are not edible. You need to return to your original recipe!

Too expensive

I am using the less expensive brands. I was at Walmart this week and they want almost $10.00 for the largest bag of your chocolate chips. I can no longer afford you folks! I joined about 20 years ago. I thought this website would give me coupons occasionally. I have lost interest in your emails. Shame on you folks.........

Disappointed!

My whole family has used this recipe for generations. We always had many compliments on our baked goodies and everyone asking how we made them. Not anymore! The chips do not melt or taste good! I have tried several batches in the last year and always get the same disappointed results. I will not buy these chips anymore and it saddens me. I hope you go back to the original recipe!

Best Chocolate Chips, Hands Down

I always defer to Nestle chocolate chips because not only are they always delicious but they melt well when you want them to, hold their shape well when you want them to do that and they come in some fabulous flavor variations that allow you to flex your creative muscles and try new stuff!
