Taste different!

I haven't used any chocolate chips in a year or two. Tonight we were making chocolate covered crispy peanut butter balls. I poured the bag of Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips into the bowl and sneaked a handful for a little taste, just like I've done all my life (I'm 53). My first thought was, "These taste funny!". Melted them with 1/4 cup Crisco in the microwave. Didn't have any trouble melting. It was very smooth, but I took another taste and it still tasted "off". Even kind of a chemical taste. This bag had the "new look" so I thought maybe something had changed. Dumped the whole batch and sent my son to another store to get another bag with the "old" packaging. Took another taste and this one tasted strange, too. We're going to go ahead and use it. Hopefully the sugar and peanut butter taste will compensate for the poor chocolate taste. I've read two pages of reviews where the company has said there is no change, but I've used these my whole life and SOMETHING is different. Very disappointed. Will have to try another brand. :(

Something's changed

I have preferentially used Nestles chips for years, so much so that I have currently been buying them in the 36 oz bags, since I use one or more of these large bags per batch of cookies/brownies/etc. [example code: BEST BY END APR2019 70915748 1 1 09:49]. Over the past couple of months, I have found (like others recently writing reviews here) that the chips do not melt as they previously did and that they have a different taste. The taste and eating sensation seem to have changed to be more like the flavorless, bitter survival chocolate bars than the creamy, easily melting chocolate present up to last Nov? Dec? I'm unsure whether this reflects the quality (or type?) of chocolate going into the product or something about its manufacture. Until it reverts, I'll be auditioning new chips for a replacement.

Best Chocolate Chips on the Market

These chips are wonderful in cookies and Biscotti. Small enough to give just a touch of chocolate, but melts beautifully in my Molasses Chocolate Chip cookies. Just sorry they have joined the others in not giving you the full 12 oz they used to. But will always buy them.

A Baking Tradition!

I baked my family's favorite chocolate chip cookies with the Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels. These morsels have a rich, chocolaty flavor and melt perfectly. The icon of chocolate chips. As long as I can remember, my family chose Nestle morsels for baking. "I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. Just the right sweetness

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] #free sample I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. All opinions are my own. I baked some chocolate chip cookies using these Nestlé Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels. These were just the right amount of sweetness. Not too sweet or bitter. They were just the right size and I liked how they melted just enough without making a mess of my cookies. They had a nice rich chocolate taste with a smooth texture and held together during baking.

Morsels taste chalky! Can't use this brand anymore

I've been making Nestle's toll house recipe, using Nestle semi-sweet chips, for 50 years. Now the cookies taste "off." I tasted the morsels by themselves--they are the culprit. They have less of a chocolatey flavor, more of a chalky consistency. I tried the recipe using Guittard chips and it was excellent. Why did Nestle make their morsels into inedible junk?

The very best!

NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels are always my go-to for all my baking with chocolate chips, as they set the standard for me. I love the perfectly balanced flavor that these morsels offer, adding richness and indulgence to every cookie, brownie, and sweet bread that I bake. They are also awesome for candy making, melting smoothly and offering big flavor. I never reach for anything but Nestle Toll House when it comes to baking goodies and I highly recommend these to all bakers. I received this product for free for the purpose of my review. Can't be beat

I actually worked at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, MA as a cashier, but I don't actually remember eating a cookie there for some reason. I still have the old Toll House recipe where you added a teaspoon of water to the cookie dough! I make them the "new" way, though, without the water and won't vary from it!

Too Much fun!!!!

I have to say there is always Toll House Chocolate Chips in our house. There is an open bag just snacking on and then there are numerous bags because chocolate chip cookies are well loved in this house. I will get up early in the morning and make a batch for the kids to have in their lunches, my co-workers will get some and even the classrooms with get some (I never make a small batch) just because. Toll House Chocolate Chips never last more than a few hours in our home. But I have to say the best thing about making these cookies is sharing the time with my kids making them and sharing the actual cookies with our friends!

Smooth and creamy tasting

Nothing melts quite like a Nestle chocolate chip. They are smooth and creamy tasting each and every time we use them. I've used them in pies, cakes, cookies, deserts and in icing. Their quality taste and texture has never let me down. They are a favorite in our home.
