A must have.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I feel like David sunflower seeds are just a classic. I've grown up eating these seeds and once you start with a few you somehow end up eating the whole bag they're so addictive! A good source of protein without being fattening.

Possibly might buy this product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like seeds for having a snack while hiking or fishing. They also kept me occupied while craving a cigarette while trying to quit smoking. Great for a tasty snack on the trail. I buy them occasionally.

Quality has changed

I am consistently getting bad seeds. The bags are not expired. I used to get 5-10 bad seeds per bag but the current bag I have is closer to 25% of the seeds. I can tell when I bit into them and they crumble like sand. This trend has been growing and now with this bag it's caused me to reach out. Moreover, there's not a single seed in this bag that was really great. Normally there are several tasty seeds per bag. These were below good quality with many being terrible.

Bad

I grew up on David& Sons sunflower seeds. Instead of buying candy as a kid in the 70s, I bought these seeds. The last 3+ months has been gross. Rotten, burnt, worms, grit... I have it all. There hasn't been a single bag that's been good! I bought them all over, thinking it was the store but no. This product has gone to crap. And the ziplock bag? Well that's just a joke. Pulling it back down peels off a full side from the bag. I kept buying them thinking it was just a fluke but no. Time to switch brand.

Best by date

I recently purchased a 5.25oz. bag of this variety. I've always enjoyed sunflower seeds and I usually look for the most freshest bag of it in the stores. This particular bag was dated 07 MAY 2019. Now to my surprise the contents already smelled "rancid" much less tasted as such. I don't know what batch it was but we did not continue eating it and we were ready to return it from where we got it...POINT, is I'll try and send a message to David Seeds to see if anyone else experienced what I have but cannot give a HIGHER rating right now until I buy another bag and find out if it's the stores fault with rotation of their product or the manufacturer.

Love the David brand

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very picky when it comes to my sunflower seeds and every time I try a brand that's not the David brand I have yet to find one I like. The David brand has and always will be my go to and all time favorite. The original flavor is what I enjoy and the seeds are always perfect in my opinion and have the same taste every bag.

David's are the best!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] David's Sunflower Seeds are always my go-to sunflower seed! They are the best! David's has fewer bad seeds in their bags, there's nothing worse when it comes to sunflower seeds then when you crack one open and it tastes horrible! A few other brands I have tried have had quite a few bad seeds per bag, I am always reminded why I usually choose David's. David's seeds are also easily found in any grocery store or convenience store, and come in so many good flavors! Their flavors are bold and flavorful, but not too overpowering of the tiny seed. We love David's Sunflower seeds in our house!

What happened to my favorite seeds?

I love David sunflower seeds! They are usually my favorite. I’m so sad that every bag that I have bought within last year 2020-till now taste bad. =( They have a burnt/over cooked taste to them. I no longer enjoy them, and sadly will have to stop purchasing them until things improve and go back to it’s former quality. I hate writing this cause I really love the seeds. Someone please fix this!

Tastes great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I kept these in the car with me while traveling. It was nice to have something to snack on. They had the perfect amount of salt of them. They tasted great. Easy to open the shells and the seeds tasted good.

It’s David’s fault!

Every once in a while I go on a bender. I can never find a really big bag of David’s sunflower seeds so I buy several smaller bags. I got tired of this so I bought a 1lb bag of spits (mistakenly) cracked pepper. 1 handful later it went in the trash. I tried again with the original. I have actually checked the bag for the “best by” date. They tasted like they hadn’t even roasted. I’ve never done it but that's what I would think my dogs paws would taste like after running around on wet grass all day. David’s you are guilty of allowing connoisseurs of fine seeds to consume the competition’s nasty seeds. While I have learned my lesson and will never forsake my David’s seeds again, one would hope, as the best seeds ever, David’s would make a bigger bag available.
