I have the older Royal 1660MX model and while it is MUCH slower than the other 5-6 yr old shredder I recently threw away because it died after HEAVY use it has worked great since I bought it at Sam's. I never did try to cut 18 sheets in the 1830 but I doubt it could cut more than 4. It clogged up when I tried 3-4 more than a few times. It would run several time then stop. I would reach in to pull the paper out, it would start back up, I'd drop back to 2 sheets and it would go for 8-10 cycles until I got brave and tried more pages. After (or during) each use, I used a shredder sheet or two even though I may have only used the shredder for 15-20 minutes. I gave it 3 honest tries over the past several weeks. I will try another company.

I bought this shredder and unfortunately did not use it for a year. When I finally unpacked it to use it did not work. Tried to return it to Sams Club but they say it is too old even though it is in original packaging and you can see it has never been used..They say contact Royal.

I bought this several months ago and after reading reviews I am having same problem as everyone else...WILL NOT SHUT OFF..i have cleaned constantly and ..some stores you are allowed so much time to return and as i live 90 miles from the Sam s club where i bought will cost me more for gas and miles on car ..I bought this because I thought was great brand..apparently not..too many reviews saying the same thing. Retired..on social security ..cant afford same mistake again..Hope to save someone else their money.

I had this shredder less than 3 months and it has stopped turning off. In fact when this started it turned on by itself. No one had been shredding anything. I was away from the house and my husband heard a noise and walked around the house and found the shredder on. If it has auto off why did it start automatically. I don't think we have a ghost. Lol. But seriously it will not stop shredding after the paper/item goes through. Would not recommend.

Works great and gobbles papers fast

The full bin light keeps coming on when it's not even close to being full. We bought a large shredder to avoid this type of issue.
