We had this product for out home for about 3 months, when the control panel melted. It was by a window and it completely buckled and came off. I called the manufacturer and they told me that was too bad and they wouldn't fix it. My other shredder had been in the same place for years and the panel on it never melted. I would not buy this product again.

Lasted all of 4 months before failing. Many design flaws make this a total piece of junk. First the bin design stops the material from layering correctly so that the shredder stops thinking the bin is full even though it is not even 1/3rd full. We put this through very light home use. Total run time probably 2 hours over the 4 months. The most we put through at one time was about 6 sheets far short of the 18 sheet capacity so this shredder was not stressed at all. The unit stopped working and subsequent examination (to get my half shredded document out) showed a design where steel gears mesh with plastic gears thus breaking the plastic gears and jamming. Looking on line it appears that the "Full Bin" shut off and the gears jamming are common symptoms for this shredder. Rather than mess with a returns since I had lost the receipt the. whole shredder went into the trash can. No more Royal Products for me ..Ever..

Disappointed when I went to empty the bin out and notice that it was strips instead of cross cut. The box says cross cut the machine says cross cut and the instructions says cross cut on it. I guess you don't get what you pay for.
