You don't need any additional tools other than whatever came in the box. The pieces were labeled and our small children were even able to help set up the bed! I have a newton crib mattress and it fit nice and snug so I didn't have to worry about any weird gaps. The wood is smooth and seems durable. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and they like swinging on the little wood. I do wish it had some accessories to go with it, like a housing sheet to go over the house shape so my girls could play house or pretends or just have time to themselves in their own little world. Overall, I think this is a great bed frame, it has good quality and again, I loved how easy it was to assemble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We initially planned to use this toddler bed to transition our child out of the crib, and while it worked well size-wise (since it uses the same mattress size as a crib), we ultimately decided not to make the full sleep transition with it. Instead, we repurposed it as a cozy playhouse space where our toddler can read, relax, and play during the day. From a design standpoint, the bed has a simple, neutral look and sits low to the ground, which made it easy for our child to get in and out independently. The familiar mattress size helped make it feel comfortable and inviting, even when used as a play space. In terms of construction and materials, there are a few areas that could be improved. The mattress sits directly on the ground rather than on a raised frame or slats, which wasn't ideal for our needs. The frame also has some side-to-side sway and doesn't feel as sturdy as we would prefer for a primary sleeping bed. Additionally, some of the hardware, such as bolts, remains exposed, and covering these would improve both safety and overall appearance. Assembly itself was straightforward, with clear instructions and no special tools required. While we chose not to use it as a full-time bed, it has worked nicely as a low, accessible space for reading and quiet time, and our toddler enjoys having it as a dedicated spot of their own. The design is super cute, and my little one was excited the second they saw it. Unfortunately, the wood and overall materials feel pretty lightweight and not as high quality as I was hoping. My kiddo is a climber and immediately wanted to climb up the sides like a step stool, which made me nervous about safety. We even had a friend's 5-year-old come over and start to hang on the top section, and thankfully we stopped them quickly because it truly seemed like it could've snapped if they put their full weight on it. I also can't confidently speak to the non-toxic coating because the smell when we opened it was extremely strong. It took about 3 days of airing out before it improved, and even now there's still a slight odor. Assembly wasn't too hard (no drilling, just use the included Allen wrench), but it did take a little while and admittedly I had to re-do two sections due to my own error. Overall, I love how it looks, but I really wish the materials felt sturdier and more durable for active toddlers, and the off-gassing was an immediate turn-off for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was putting off assembling this bed because I thought this would be a struggle and take a significant amount of time, but I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of assembly for a non-handy mom like myself. I appreciated that I didn't need any tools of my own; everything was included! I was able to put this together in about an hour and half on my own, while 9 months pregnant; so I have faith that others could do better! The quality of the bed is great! It feels well made and the finish is very smooth. It's very sturdy when assembled, however my toddler hasn't put it fully to the test as she hasn't tried to use it as a jungle gym….yet. There was a little bit of a scent as I was assembling it but it wasn't bothersome; more of a “new” smell than a chemical smell. Knowing it has a non-toxic coating made me less concerned. The scent had disappeared by the morning. It's such a cute bed, I'm not sure who loves it more, me or my daughter. My toddler was so excited to see her new bed the next day. My 2-year-old started climbing out of her crib, and we needed to make the transition. I was looking for a bed that fit her whimsical vibe, was low to the ground, and fit her crib mattress (because that baby was expensive!). I put the bed together myself, and the assembly was really straight forward and easy. All the screws are the same size (no “size G” or “size I” screws), and all the holes were in the right spots (if you know, you know). The materials feel pretty sturdy, and I feel pleased with the quality. The bed has two modes—playhouse mode and Montessori mode, and we went with the playhouse mode because it has the cute little roof on top. I will say, the only downside to me is that the screws are very visible. I don't think that would bother most people, though. Also, the bed is pretty lightweight despite feeling durable, but if your toddler is one to move furniture around, I'd probably look for something heavier. As soon as I finished putting the bed together, my two kids immediately went inside. My daughter kept saying “LouLou's house!” (her name is Louise). I can't say she stays in the bed all night, but she definitely loves it!

The design is so cute and I love the white color. It goes with everything and looks so sleek and clean. My son loves that it looks like a house and has his own "fort". The quality was very nice and durable and I love that it has non toxic coating in case he tries chewing on it. The assembly was very minimal and easy even for me to do. What I like most about this bed is not only is it very chic, I love that it's on the floor so he can't fall out of the bed. I'm so happy with it and will post a picture when we get my sons room all set up.

We did not have the right mattress, so we built the frame to see how my nieces would like it as a fort/ reading corner. When we finished building I thought it was so cute, as a bed frame I love the idea of a canopy for a kids bed. As a fort though, we put a sheet over the frame & some pillows to make it cozy & my nieces loved it! They spent a lot of time just sitting under the frame drawing & playing with their dolls. This was lovely as it gave my sister and my parents a break from playing with them. The only negative is that so could see my nieces arguing about who gets the bed frame, but that just means we would have to buy another one! I would definitely recommend this.
