Bought it to replace 2008 SONY blu-ray player that would not play many new title releases. This one does without any issues. Unit seems too small, lightweight. Remote too small, too flimsy. This unit does not have LED display which I was used to…but I guess many new players don't.

This is my first Blue-ray player. It works extremely well as a player. Unfortunately can't use the network features because I don't have a modem. My neighbor lets me use his wireless for access. Otherwise I'm impressed with the small footprint and the quality of the picture and sound.

I bought this after returning another brand with 4K Ultra that cost 3 x as much and was full of bugs. It did not update firmware, the streaming apps did not work right, and the normal DVDs displayed in Pillar Box Format (Black Vertical Bars on the side), and there was no way to avoid this. This BDP-S1700 was plug and play. It worked out of the box with no setup other than the quick setup. It plays Blu-Rays as well as DVDs (480P), with no pillar bars. It also upscales normal DVDs to 1080P. Picture quality is excellent, sound quality through a Denon Home Theater amp is excellent. Overall, I'm quite satisfied and impressed.,. The price performance ratio is outstanding. The only caveat is I just bought it and will it last?

Very easy to operate and comes with a remote control that is also very easy to use. We set it up outside of our camper to enjoy movies by the campfire! So perfect. Highly recommend!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so glad I upgraded my old dvd player. Now, I can watch blu-ray dvds in full HD. So far I haven't encountered any problems with this product. The picture is very sharp and the colors are rich. Installing this player was quick and easy to do. When I was setting it up, I was surprised that a HDMI cable was not included. I didn't like this, luckily I had a spare one on hand. Also I don't find the wired internet connection realistic to use since my modem/router isn't located anywhere near where my tv is located. I have a smart tv so I don't need to connect to the internet for streaming via DVD player. When I was playing a movie I found the remote to be very helpful. I like that there is a button for subtitle and audio since I watch so many foreign films. I do highly recommend this blu-ray dvd player.

It is also simple to use it has a power and eject button the rest is operating with the remote control. It can be use to watch movies from CD or DVDs or to stream movies via Netflix or Youtube. What I didn't like about it is that you need a cable to connect it to internet. I thought it was wifi capable but I had to buy an Ethernet cable. you will also need a HDMI cable I already had one so it was fine for me I am absolutely satisfied by the quality of the images and sound.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What can I say about Sony,that you already don't know.Sony products have been around for ages and always keeping up with the newest innovations,products never cease to amaze you.When Sony decided to bring back the DVD player,I knew it was gonna be something new and improved.That is exactly what they did,my thoughts of the standard DVD player will never be the same.Thanks to Sony I no longer have to use multiple remotes to binge watch my favorite Netflix shows.I now am able to access it through my DVD player remote and through onscreen options,but wait there's more.....Sony DVD player allows you not only to get your favorite apps it has education features for learning k-college at home,music apps such as Pandora,Sirius.It has a Happy Kids app to safely entertain the kiddos,and of course PlayStation accessibility.This DVD has it all with already built-in apps.Thank You Sony as always for bringing your "A" game and helping keep my family up with the latest and best of the best.

This was a replacement for a much older Sony. It had all the new connections at about half the price and was easy to hook up.

This disc player is easy to use and works beautifully. I figured out the setup myself and I'm not electronically savvy at all. Recommend product
