Works well once correct settings are in place. It has a sound setting that requires a PCM selection rather than "Auto" for our TV using an HDMI cable, which you would not expect it to matter. What's the purpose of "auto" if it doesn't auto-select? Anyway, all is good now.

I bought this Blu-ray player for my sister, who is intellectually challenged. It was simple to set up with her TV, and I was able to help her learn how to work it, which is saying a lot. Her new DVD of her old movie favorites played beautifully with great clarity. I can't testify to the Blu-ray projection because she doesn't yet have any Blu-ray discs, but if the DVD of old movies looks that good, I imagine a Blu-ray disc would be awesome.

I bought this to replace an old VCR/DVD player. It's easy to use, but for some reason I cannot play just my TV when the DVD player is hooked up. The TV won't change channels or even turn off when it's hooked up. I just unplug the cables from the back of the player until I want to play a DVD. It's also extremely lightweight, so I had to put a rubber mat under it to keep it from sliding when I put a DVD in or take one out.

I am so glad that I bought this Sony Blu Ray player. I have watched about 10 movies since I bought it and it showed them all beautifully with no problems. i have another Sony DVD player that I bought about 15 years ago and is still working fine. i would never buy any other brand. Keep it up Sony.

This is my first Blue-ray player. It works extremely well as a player. Unfortunately can't use the network features because I don't have a modem. My neighbor lets me use his wireless for access. Otherwise I'm impressed with the small footprint and the quality of the picture and sound.

I'm not techie by any means, so buying a DVD player these days is confusing to say the least. I read reviews, get confused and tend to buy the one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and has an overall good rating. This Sony player did not disappoint. It was very easy to set up, and figure out how to use. I've used both Bluray and DVDs in it and the movies have played beautifully. In my opinion it's a great buy and great product!

I was pleased with all the streaming features that came along with this unit. Every now and then, I will get an error message stating "Content no longer Available". I have unplug (reboot) the system and then the content becomes available again. I'm not sure if it's this unit or something with the internet connection. The unit itself is very small and light. The only problem with that is, when I go to press the button to open the disc tray the unit wants to move around it's so light, so I have to hold the top with my other hand. Also the blue light that shows the unit is on is extremely small and sometimes it's difficult to tell if it's on, it could have been made larger.

while i like the product, you need to write better instuctions,make it simple, installing was easy, but, getting started using it was not... just say, to start push this button, then the next one to push and so on, then getting it back to the tv only was not easy, give the same instructions for that one step at a time... we don't need all that technical stuff, just easy instructions... on a good note, when you finally figure everthing out it give a great picture and a lot of enjoyment for out family... please just give maybe a quick start kind of chart with each player, that's really all we need, not all that mumble jumble and large papers of instructions... again keep it simple, most of us need that, not all the frustration we get as it is now....

We bought this Blu-Ray player to replace our aged Sony DVD player, which is 10 years old! The Blu-Ray was easy to set up and performs nicely. One Item I noticed early on when we played a Blu-Ray disc, the shadow areas in the picture went totally black, with no detail or texture to them at all. I don't know why, or how, this happens with the new player but I will probably contact Sony. The unit seems to work fine with DVDs, so it's probably a setting or maybe it involves our Sony video screen, which is also getting old.

Bought it to replace 2008 SONY blu-ray player that would not play many new title releases. This one does without any issues. Unit seems too small, lightweight. Remote too small, too flimsy. This unit does not have LED display which I was used to…but I guess many new players don't.
