I bought this dvd player for my special needs brother for Christmas. Here it is the middle of March and it has not worked for a month.At first I thought my brother had done something to break it but after taking the cover off (my dad was a tv technician) I realized that the motor that turns the disk is blown. I bought this model because it was easy to use and it was not the cheapest Sony dvd nor the most expensive. Would not recommend.

ive always loved these players went with LG players for awhile their good machines too but for a price difference of only $3.00 ill get this one quick 1 day delivery not sure how but ok packages excellent great buy i recommend this site always THANK YOU TIM Butte Mt. WalMart

For the $ this is a small (half rack) Dvd player. It also doesn't have any display except for a tiny green light next to the power button to let you know that it is on. I have run this DVD player for 2 weeks straight and it is quiet and does the job. Without the display, it is hard to trouble shoot a bad disc or if it is hooked up correctly. It is even difficult to tell the player is on with the small green light. I guess if you strip everything off a dvd player except for hdmi and digital out, this is what it is.

If the instructions to set it up had gone a step further, we'd have had no problem, but they don't say anything about what to do once the player is hooked up; that's the only reason I didn't give this a complete 5 star rating. After you hook it up according to the picture instructions that come with the player, you have to then go to your TV's Remote and press "Input" and then make sure you've highlighted HDMI2. Possibly on your TV it might be another line, but you just have to try each one, then hit Play on the DVD's Remote. A neighbor had to point out those facts, which he learned when hooking up his DVD player. Even when you Google asking how to set up a DVD player, they don't go that one step further. A royal pain in the butt...otherwise, this is a GREAT DVD player and at a great price.

Purchased /1/10/15. Very Easy setup with HDMI cable. . Only issue is the same I had with the player it replaced. Have to use 2 Remotes. Comcast remote does not work with it. Have to use Visio TV remote to Choose INPUT source (HDMI 2) & Volume. SONY remote used only to Setup, Play/Pause open/close. No other functions work. Same as on previous DVD Players we owned. Frustrating.

I was impressed by the video quality of this DVD player. But I was seriously unimpressed by the remote control. Instead of including buttons for such features as repeat and zoom, you have to navigate through a frustrating menu system to access those features. It's as if one group of people designed the player itself (which works well) and another group of people purposely decided to make the player as inconvenient as possible to use (by designing a terrible remote control and menu system). Other frustrating features of this DVD player include fast motion, slow motion and advance buttons that work in unintuitive ways and a counter that appears so momentarily that it's nearly impossible to read (There's another counter that will remain on indefinitely, but it is part of the menu system, and the menu blocks the video in the background). This unit also has a tiny power-on LED that is nearly invisible from across a large room. On the positive side, the remote control allows you to see screen shots of multiple titles and chapters simultaneously and it has extremely smooth and sharp slow motion (but it doesn't have frame by frame slow motion). If I had it to do over again, I probably would have spent more time researching the features and remote controls of other models, and probably would have bought one of those other models instead of this one.

I bought this product because it was the same one I had been using for years that broke. This one has a few more functions. It is very slim and doesn't take up much space. I looked at the other ones but decided to stay with the same one. Not only was it on sale but the shipping was for free and it arrived the next day! Bravo Walmart!

The tiny green dot is the only display on the DVD player, which I found odd... However, for the price I paid $15 more than the cheapest DVD player so I could have the HDMI output option, which is very necessary for the future of owning electronics. This model also plays DVD+/-RW's and has Dolby Digital output, options other cheaper models didn't have.... The only reason to upgrade from this DVD player is if you want: 1) a DVD/VCR combo, 2) a portable DVD player, or, 3) a blue-ray player.

The DVD player failed after three months.

And HDMI dvd player that doesn't provide a HDMI cord. Appreciate that!
