I've always bought Sony DVD players I've always had luck with them the one I got now just finally quit playing but I had that for about four and a half years I kept it clean but it lasted that long. I play 50 movies through it then I use a dvd cleaner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product performed as I had hoped. My older DVD player does not have the upscaling feature which means there are times when I cannot watch a movie on it. The new Sony DVD player is performing perfectly so far.

Was looking for a high quality but inexpensive DVD player with HDMI and I found it. Great quality and the video resolution looks fantastic on my hi-def TV. It looks much better than an older DVD player I was using on the same TV. I highly recommend to folks.

I bought this unit about 9 months ago. It has degenerated steadily for the past 3 or 4 months, then failed completely. At first by freeze frame, followed by loss of sound, then stopping completely while a fragmented still picture remained. Though still under the one year parts warranty, the labor warranty expired after 90 days. I did not feel that the parts warranty was worth the cost of shipment to a repair facility plus any labor charges. Instead, I chose to replace this unit with another Sony unit a little farther upscale.

I bought this Sony HDMI DVD player because my old DVD player broke down suddenly and completely -- freezing or distorting the picture. Because I was watching a DVD at the time and need to finish watching it that same day , I didn't have time to research my choices more thoroughly. I bought this model because it was available immediately at Walmart Online, and was the cheapest. Pros: Picture is clear, and does not skip or break up. Good value for the money. Cons: 1. the remote control is difficult to operate. It is very small, and when I press the forward button to move to the next "chapter" or "section", it often skips and moves it two chapters. Then, when I want to bring the movie back to the preceding chapter, it might skip 3 chapters back. Totally erratic behavior. 2. the button to turn the DVD player on does not always work. I have to press it several times before it turns on the player. Maybe I should sit nearer the TV...which defeats the purpose of having a remote. 3. It is difficult to tell when the player is on, become the green light is very tiny. For the record, I wear glasses and see the picture on the TV screen very well. I also do not have fat fingers, which might cause me to press two buttons at once. In conclusion, I would not recommend this to a friend unless he/she likes to sit really close to the TV, has tiny fingers and excellent eyesight. Because of these frustrating problems with the remote, I would not buy this player again.

This was a great replacement to my previous dvd player. The only thing I dislike are the raised buttons for the play, ejection, etc. buttons. I prefer flat buttons as it gives the device a sleeker look. the slivers buttons cheapens the look. However, it still works well.

My fav feature is the playback feature. You can take the DVD out of the unit, put it back in and the DVD will play from the last stopping point. Of course the feature is what I think causes the open/close function to work slow. You push the button and it takes a long sec for it to open. Overall: This is a great item!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was DOA I got home unwrapped and plugged in per instructions. Nothing - no lights, no buttons worked. I tried a different receptacle - same results. Return on line and took back to store was simple and easy. I wish the product had worked.

The picture quality is great, hook-up is super easy. This unit has many great features. It would be nice if they were available with buttons on the remote rather than scrolling thru the menu options on the screen, that unit is why I gave a dislike for ease of use. I would recommend this player.

The only change I would make with this DVD Player is the tiny-tiny green light that alerts you that the player is on. The lights in the room has to be off in order for you to see the green light. I had read this (review) prior to my purchasing this DVD player but thought that perhaps the previous buyer might've had a visual impairment or something but that wasnt the case. It really needs to be large enough to see with the lights on in the room. Otherwise....its fine. Nice sleek look.
