Yes, I bought another Sony dvd player. The other one died after it's warranty period but I liked the simplicity of it so much, I bought another one; but this time I also purchased the extended warranty. The only set up issue was having to set my TV to make it fill the whole screen. The set up directions for the Sony Dvd player are not as clear as I would like. I didn't know what some of the terms of the settings meant. You could possibly have a place where you define a little more clearly what the different settings mean.

I bought this for my mother after searching for a blu ray player. Disappointed that Wal-Mart cannot provide separate categories for these two types of products. Pathetic. Guess I'm learning something, right. Never trust the Wal-Mart website to get distinctions right.

It seems to play easy. It was very easy to connect, easy to setup. The setup is done via the onscreen menus. The only thing that continues to trip me up there is not any front display to tell me what it is doing. Touch the power button on the remote, did it power up.?? Load a disk, does it find it or understand what it is.??? The IR led on the remote is easy to coverup. The player seems to work / play very well..

I bought a Sony dvd player similar to this model 4 years ago from a local store at Walmart and never had any issues until a few days ago. I opened the back to clean it but was not able to open it completely because the screws were too small so I replaced it with this new one which works perfectly. This dvd does not play blue rays nor does it do fancy stuff it just plays dvd's and cd's.

We just bought an HD Tv with 1080p. When we would play movies with our ten year plus old dvd player they just looked a touch blurry and you could see pixels with fast movement. We thought for $40.00 it would be worth trying this dvd upscaling player. This difference is like night and day. Very exciting! Some of the reviews say that is breaks fast and easy but we just bought the 2 year warranty plan and figure it's worth the gamble. One thing we noticed is that old movies are not as clear and 3d like as the new ones. I think it's because they originally were VHS then DVD and trying for HD.

Does the job, my old DVD player which I rarely use because I hardly ever watched DVDs was probably 20+ years old and it only had RCA jacks, and an s-video output which is obsolete now as there isn't even an s-video input on my newer smart TV. My old DVD player using RCA jacks (red,white,yellow) had a pretty grainy and not so pleasurable picture to view, so that's why I bought this one which has HDMI output, the picture is quite a bit sharper probably due to the HDMI output, but the upscaling feature probably helps too. You can't buy much now for 58 bucks, didn't think I'd have to buy another DVD player but here I am. As long as this one keeps working, and given I will hardly ever use it , it should be good for as long as I'm gonna be around lol. And Sony is a pretty respected name that's been around for ages.

I like that this player is small, and thin. It doesn't take much space on my TV stand. Also, it works its way through skips well (I rent a lot of DVDs through the library, and some are not taken care of very well). I do not like that there is no counter on the front. I want to know how much time I have left sometimes, and can not easily see this.

Great dvd, we bought a Sony dvd player in January 2014 at a physical Walmart and it lasted until June 2 nd and would no longer read discs so I ordered one online. This one is high def which is great but the only downside is that there is no display on the front panel of the dvd player, but it runs nice and quiet and a great high def picture. An early anniversary present for us both as our wedding anniversary is June 20 th. My wife is very happy and you know what they say, " Happy wife, happy life." Stan.

this is low priced dvd player and performs as such. it has no front display panel. It has very limited connection options and most of all the mechanism works like a bottom of the line unit. it takes forever to power up, open and load a disc. picture quality is good for this price range, but the overall performance of the unit is equal to it's budget price. I kept this unit for 1 day and returned it for a higher end model. if you are on a tight budget and don't expect much performance wise, it might fit the bill, but didn't meet my needs or expectations

This unit converts normal DVD's to near HD quality, has HDMI output and the old RCA audio/video out connectors. Cons: HDMI cable not included, the Link Depot 6' Gold-Plated High-Speed HDMI Cable is the cheapest solution from Walmart. The only indicator is power on top and is small.
