Received my Sony HD DVD player very quickly, hooked up to my new flat screen TV and it is working perfectly. Very sleek, requires little space and now I can watch movies in bed. Wal-Mart shipping site to store was also a big plus. I would definitely recommend this product. Price was also very reasonable.

I give this 4 stars not because it's bad, but because it's not as good as my old Sony which this replaced. Sony clearly cut corners to keep the price the same. First off it has NO display. Nothing. I have no idea where the DVD is or if it's even on. That's pretty stupid. How much is a little display? 10 cents? Second it's louder than my other one. Not outrageous but when you're right up to it it's definitely louder. Nothing annoying just something I noticed. The no display thing is really stupid did I mention that? Surprising for Sony Other than that it's fine.

Does the job, my old DVD player which I rarely use because I hardly ever watched DVDs was probably 20+ years old and it only had RCA jacks, and an s-video output which is obsolete now as there isn't even an s-video input on my newer smart TV. My old DVD player using RCA jacks (red,white,yellow) had a pretty grainy and not so pleasurable picture to view, so that's why I bought this one which has HDMI output, the picture is quite a bit sharper probably due to the HDMI output, but the upscaling feature probably helps too. You can't buy much now for 58 bucks, didn't think I'd have to buy another DVD player but here I am. As long as this one keeps working, and given I will hardly ever use it , it should be good for as long as I'm gonna be around lol. And Sony is a pretty respected name that's been around for ages.

I needed to replace a Sony CD Changer that finally gave out after having it for many years, many years. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on another CD Changer so I went with this player. Granted it doesn't have all the features my changer did but it does what I need it to do and that's okay my beloved CDs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was searching for a Sony Blueray player and this one was not it. My mistake in not reading the advertisement carefully enough! Returned the item the same day it was delivered, searched Walmart website and found the correct product which was available at the same store I returned the item. Purchased it and was satisfied with the price as well. Works great!

This is a simple one-slot DVD player. It is quiet and much smaller than the previous 5-DVD carousel that I was replacing. I hooked it up to the Samsung TV using the supplied component cables. I was also prepared to use my own HDMI cable. It all worked on the first try in 5 minutes. I chose Walmart over Amazon: Walmart had free delivery in one day, faster than the predicted Prime delivery from Amazon; more importantly, the Amazon options for the same model had compulsory packages with overpriced HDMI cables that I did not need. Hence Walmart was considerably cheaper and still met the delivery speed. I should mention that I purchased this unit for playing relatively old DVDs, and which may not be representative of new versions. (No Blu Ray)

Nice little DVD player with HDMI that gives near High Def quality picture. Sold at a good price and fast shipping. Was easy to install, but you will need to purchase a HDMI cable. The only dislike is there is no window showing "open" "close" or time remaining. There is only a little green light on the button to show the DVD is on.

Installation and setup were minimal. Price is a real bargain. It worked right out of the box, and you can't ask for much more than that. It's simple and straightforward. We attached it to a ceiling mounting bracket for use in our church fellowship hall, and actually used it to show about 8 hours of movies the next day. Worked great, makes an excellent high resolution picture using the HDMI connection.

Sent it back.....apparently you need a special type of cable to hook it up and make it work. They don't tell you that. I hate to give this item any stars as I don't know if it is a good dvd player as I didn't get it hooked up so I will give it the benefit of doubt with a 3 star review.
