I needed a DVD player with HDMI connection and this one was priced right, easy to set up, and plays fine. When loading the DVD you can hear the inner workings of the unit, but it's not noticeable while watching DVD's. Remote is easier to use than my old one and although the unit doesn't show the elapsed time, there is a button on the remote that will display it on the TV screen. We don't use DVD's often so only time will tell how durable it is.

I bought a Sony dvd player similar to this model 4 years ago from a local store at Walmart and never had any issues until a few days ago. I opened the back to clean it but was not able to open it completely because the screws were too small so I replaced it with this new one which works perfectly. This dvd does not play blue rays nor does it do fancy stuff it just plays dvd's and cd's.

Looks, feels, weighs and works like high quality. Buttons on the remote control are good and accessible for average size adult fingers (not pixie fingers like my previous player). The DVD player has 2 connected cables. The one connecting to back of the television screen is 8 feet long. The cable connecting to an electrical wall outlet is nearly 4 feet long. The sound is controlled by the TV remote; everything else is controlled by buttons on the DVD remote. I've got this DVD player hooked up to a TV that gets input from a $39 indoor antenna laid flat on a shelf near a window - no cable fees, no cable service involved. The antenna plugs into a wall outlet, also, so two electrical outlets are needed for all 3 devices. Point the DVD remote to either the DVD player itself (which also contains manual buttons for on/off and open/close) or to the TV to make selections on how to set up and view DVD stories. Of course, it also plays CDs. A bargain, and no commercials!

A DVD player is typically operated from from the front but this unit has button labels which can only be viewed from the top. To operate this at eye level the buttons need temporary labels until which is which is learned. Bad ergonomics. Also, the remote is not designed for ease of one handed button pressing. Again, bad ergonomics. To its credit is the inclusion of HDMI output and it worked right out of the box; no set-up required.

I bought the DVD player for my grand daughter to watch in our spare bedroom when she comes over. Last week she stayed in that room for the first time, she never slept in that room before. She said that she wanted to because of the new DVD player, she had a great time in that room watching the DVD and when I told her that the unit also played CD's she went wild ! She loves to listen to Carrie Underwood. We could not get her out of that bedroom, for over a year or more we wanted her to sleep in one of our two spare bedroom but she wouldn't. She is 5 years old and after last weekend she now wants to come over and stay in the bedroom with the new Sony DVD / CD player. Feels great !!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well, I am rating based on assumptions, because we have not yet hooked up the DVD player. The price was good, but I cannot fully comment on the quality (which appears very good) or overall satisfaction until we use the unit.

It seems to work just fine. I easily figured out how to push the buttons. It takes a little presser to work the buttons. The design is small, light and sleek and there is a tiny light to tell the player is on so it does not catch your eye while watching. The picture quality is just fine. There is no code for VIZIO tvs so you can not use the Sony remote on the VIZIO tv.

Very easy to connect and set up. Works very well when connected to a TV that also works correctly. Glad I waited to make this review until hooked this up to a brand new TV or else I would have reported this only played in black in white when that was the TVs fault!

Great dvd, we bought a Sony dvd player in January 2014 at a physical Walmart and it lasted until June 2 nd and would no longer read discs so I ordered one online. This one is high def which is great but the only downside is that there is no display on the front panel of the dvd player, but it runs nice and quiet and a great high def picture. An early anniversary present for us both as our wedding anniversary is June 20 th. My wife is very happy and you know what they say, " Happy wife, happy life." Stan.

there are very few dvds that play continuously anymore and this one has that feature, i am using this for display reasons and ended up buying 3 more they worked so good and are compact easy to move and hook up, looking for a display one or continuously play for the kids to watch cartoons or movies to keep them busy this is the one you want,
