Wow! So quiet!

This is my first generator and I need an inverter generator that I can hook up to my FoxESS solar battery to provide power in the event of an outage with low solar radiation. My experience of generators is largely limited to my nextdoor neighbours' Generac Whole Home generator, which is enough to wake the entire neighbourhood when it fires up. Not so with this inverter generator. It was so quiet. So, far, I'm really pleased!

A serious design flaw

I bought this generator to support my “off grid” cabin!. It started and ran well right out of the box , It has a battery start and optional “pull start” . The battery switch must be turned off anytime the generator is not running as the monitor will kill the battery.. The problem is the pull start will not start the generator if the battery is dead ! defeating the purpose of the pull start .. I was told this is unique to “duel fuel” units as the battery controls a fuel valve . Also the battery must be “on” for “auto start” to work, but will go dead in 24 hours.. defeating the purpose of auto start !! I will have to provide for an external battery charger to somehow keep the battery charged when the generator is in “standby” !! This Flaw really impairs the reliability of this unit as an auto start power supply backup! This can be easily be fixed with a “manual “ fuel valve and delete the lighted display!

What a piece of junk!

I bought this almost a month ago in preparation for hurricane season. Two days after receiving it, our power was out for 7days. I had it connected to the main panel, and got the house powered up with it. After about 15 minutes I engaged the AC (my AC has a soft start connected), almost immediately the generator sputtered and died. I pulled this new unit out of service and ran the whole week with no further issues once I hooked up my older (less wattage) conventional generator. Thankfully I was able to sell this piece of crap to a neighbor who didn’t care about running their main AC.

So Far So Good

Generator arrived in good condition. Set up was easy and straightforward. Engine started fine. Generator still in the break-in phase so haven't had the opportunity to fully test but much quieter then my previous unit & based on what've seen I don't anticipate any issues.

Very Quiet/Easy Set Up/Starting Features/Looks

Just purchased the iGen11000DFc 10 days ago. This is my first generator I have ever purchased. During my research, this inverter generator was on my list of narrowed down brands/items. Almost settled on a few different ones, but something kept causing me to come back to looking at this inverter generator: has most power in it's class/runs on gasoline and propane/three ways to start/quietest in class. I made the right decision. It was packaged well, easy to set up, very quiet, and is extremely good looking (nice bonus). I put gasoline in, followed the quick start instructions (using the remote start function) and it took running like it is already broken in. This is staying housed in out toy trailer (28 foot all aluminum) with dirt bikes, ATV's, kayaks, canoes, power washer, air compressor, and a 2008 Goldwing. This is it's primary use, but a bonus for us is, it is powerful enough to hook to the hose in case of emergency power outages. I have it set up in our toy trailer with the exhaust facing the front ramp door so it can be run while in the trailer. We are able to still hold a normal conversation (without raising our voices) while in the trailer with the generator running in normal mode (didn't have to be in Echo mode for this to happen). I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting/needing an Inverter Generator. I have a good understanding of the importance of a pure sinewave inverter if using sensitive electronics (which will happen while camping in the toy trailer) so in my opinion this generator will/does fit our needs/requirements extremely well. Did I mention: "it is very good looking & quiet" ?

Very good generator

This inverter generator is designed and built very well. Has all the features I need to power my 5000 sq ft house in the event of a power outage. Being an inverter generator makes me feel secure about running my electronics on it as well. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Good Quality to start and very quiet

I only just received this this generator and have done some light break-in with it at this point and testing all the functionality. The build quality is very good and the packaging was great. I have used gas generators for years and this is my first inverter and tri-fuel generator. Looking forward to the use of propane and not having to shuttle gas all the time. Really impressed with how quiet this generator is. I could literally stand within a few feet and have a normal conversation. Time will tell, but I specifically ordered this to charge my Anker Solix F3800s during an extended power outage. The F3800s need clean power which this generator has at <3% THD.

So far so good

Based on the great reviews I think this generator will be a great addition to out hurricane supplies. With this generator and a soft start kit we are hoping to be able to run our AC unit during hurricane season. Started right up after oil and gas were added going through break in now,

Easier to setup and operate than I imagined

This is my first generator and was surprised by how simple and easy it was to set it up and get it running. Instructions were easy to follow, connected propane tank and cranked it up. I ran it for about 30 mins, with a space heater, no problems. Next I plan to run it on gasoline and test the fuel switch over. It is a rather heavy piece, so if you are looking for something more portable, this is not it

Sturdy and solid

Features I wanted (prioritized in order), which I found on this iGen11000DFc generator: An "inverter" generator (to get THD or Total Harmonic Distortion under 3%) A "Dual Fuel" generator (to run either Propane or Gasoline) An electric start (from a battery) with "recoil" or manual start option Size: Something close to 10,000 watts (or 10KW) to easily handle any one circuit in our home (hot water heater, electric range, electric clothes dryer, etc.) Transfer switch ready (so I can "plug the house into it") Able to deliver 240 Volt circuits (required to be able to "plug the house into it") Bonus feature: The "c" in the model name for Westinghouse indicates it has a carbon monoxide shutoff feature - to shut down if carbon monoxide levels from the exhaust get dangerous around it. Packaging was great. Assembly was easy. Adding oil was made easy with supplied funnel, etc. Started it up yesterday (on propane) - took two tries to get it to start. The second try, it started but ran very rough, misfiring regularly. Let it do that for a minute or two, then shut it off. Started it again and it started right up and ran smooth. I proceeded to test it over the next 80 minutes, hooked it to our home with a 50 amp cord, and tried various circuits in the home including a heat pump, fridge, freezer, computers with monitors, TV, etc. - all worked fine. Ran the house on it for a while. My wife forgot it was on and started the electric dryer even. No issues whatsoever. The generator handled them all just fine and behaved like it was just idling to do it - it never seemed to strain or struggle. I then disconnected it from the house and started it multiple times, different ways, with the key fob, even pulling the cord (which took two pulls to start it). Every time it seemed to work just great! Downside that I saw only after reviewing the manual in detail - it says that it's not good at cold temps with the included oil (cold meaning below 23 degrees F). I want this for winter in Maine. So, I plan to change the oil out to the recommended 5W-30 synthetic oil for cold temps sometime after the burn in period - but the manual says to use the included oil until the generator is used sufficient to get it through a normal motor burn in of about 5 hours (as I understand it from reviewing the manual). Would I recommend - "yes". Bonus - it was quieter than I expected it to be. That's why my wife forgot it was even running and started the dryer in our home - she didn't even notice it was still on from inside our well-insulated home.
