Biggest portable on the market; two 50 amp outlets

Bought to support two buildings in close proximity to each other but totally separate electrically, so two 50 amp plugs was key for me. Just to power essentials in each building in an emergency. Recieved within a week or so of ordering, inclusive lift gate service (important). I live on a farm so have equipment to move heavy loads. But most importantly I feel prepared in case of a prolonged outage. With all our animals, simply leaving for while isn't an option. Very happy with whomever thought this product design up; well played!

Great features

I bought this item about 2 weeks ago and felt that this generator will hold up better to other generators. I Ike that it has dual function so can easily switch from one source to the other. The remote function is neat but how easy is it to turn on the front than stand 15ft away and startup. Will see if it stands up when I do lose power but for now very impressed.

Well Built

After our loss of power generation due to extended freezing weather in February 2021, I knew I was going to buy a solution. It took a couple of months to evaluate needs and choices, then another month to compare retail prices and availability. I was happy to find this U.S.-engineered Westinghouse packed with features and exactly what I need. An electrician installed a 200 amp, double throw transfer switch and 50 amp receptacle for this generator. This will allow me to switch over to generator power and add load incrementally. It handled my largest power users without a quiver. I am very happy with it.

WGEN20000

Works exactly as expected!!!!!! Features that influenced my purchase: Removable bonding jumper that can be removed without voiding the warranty. This is required to hook the generator to a breaker panel with an interlock kit. Two 240V/50A. Receptacles. This allows the generator to be connected to both my house’s breaker panels at the same time. (400A service ) Good lifting point so that the generator can be safely lifted with the proper equipment. Downside- The generator is heavy so you will need some way of lifting the generator off the shipping pallet. No removable cover for storing the generator.

Perfect

Arrived in perfect condition. Followed enclosed instructions and it started right up on propane. Ran for 30 minutes. No issues. Paired the remote. Used the box for cover in garage by cutting handle and wheel slots. Came with nice oil drain hose connected. Did not attach lift hook so it would fit in space I had for it and in box for dust cover.

Lots of Portable Power

This generator is great! It had exactly what I needed. It can run both 50 Amp at the same time. Wish it had better fuel efficiency but it can make the power. There is a power saving mode in it which I like. It’s not as quiet as you would like but that feature help when you turn it on. If you are getting it on a palette, make sure you can get off with out hurting yourself.

Easy to setup and use

I ended up picking this model because of the low THD rating. What I was very surprised on was how quick it was shipped and delivered. The delivery guy even helped moving the carton through the ice/snow to get it to my garage! Setup went smooth and am in the process of performing the motor break-in period. Starts on LP and gasoline have been flawless. The only negative I would have on this, so far, would be the lack of a pull start capability for backup.

WGEN14500/18000, initial review

Only 3 stars at present until Westinghouse responds. And, no recommendation until Westinghouse responds. Assembly instruction are clear, and assembly and initial setup went pretty well, but there are a couple of issues. Once the wheels are on, the battery cannot be removed to connect the cables, so off came the wheel. Also, the dip stick is awkward to use because on a instruction plate above the stick's grip. Still, minor issues. I put in 5 gallons of 87 octane unleaded gas (<10% alcohol). The generator started immediately, with no issues. I let is run for an hour without any load connected. I do have a concern about the engine and generator stability. The engine RPM had a slight instability which sounded like a very, very, slight misfire, but no popping from the exhaust. Voltage and Frequency shown on the set's display was 240 +/- 1V, and 59.6 - 59.9 HZ. I did not connect it to my house, choosing to wait until the following day. Following day: The set powered up immediately, which was nice, but I noticed that the display was now showing an unstable frequency 59.3 - 59.8 HZ (why lower than yesterday?). Voltage was 240/241 V.. Stopped and restarted the set, but no difference. I had intended connecting to the house though the 50A inlet and interlock, but, before doing so, I decided to first look at the voltage waveform with an oscilloscope and meter. I was surprised to see that the intended sine wave looked more like a triangular wave. I don't know if this is the correct output from the Westinghouse generators, so I will look forward to Westinghouse's response. Attached are two video's showing the generators output vs my utility supply. For a valid comparison, the same test setup was used. Couldn't attach the videos because it seems that Westinghouse only accepts YouTube videos, so all I can show is a photo of the WGEN's output waveform.

Excellent user manual/delivery

Just got it yesterday, fired it up today .. started immediately… have not ran a load yet. But will, after the break-in period… unfortunately I have to run it for at lease 5 hours before I can put a substantial load on it.. but will have that done in a few days.. no problem

very dissatified with this product..

ran generator for 45 minutes and it stopped and would not start again.Handled load while it was running up until it stopped..I've had Briggs and Stratton,Generac and Champion generators with no problem so i figured i would give Westinghouse a try.. I retired from a utility and we had a lot of 34.5 kv transformers and 12.5 kv circuit breakers and they were very reliable i guess because they were made in the US..
