Too difficult to assemble due to bent/twisted components. I had to find just the right piece of wood to wedge into the rails to serve a lever to bend the rails straight. Without doing this, the pieces wouldn't lock together. I bought two units and eventually did manage to get them both assembled. The powder finish came with MANY chips and scratches down to bare metal. I wouldn't care that much except these areas will rust. Over that past 20 years I've purchased several of these. The quality has really declined to what they're selling today.

These shelves are really great and sturdy, however we had an issue with assembly. The shelves should slide relatively easy into position, but ours could not from the mid-section to the top because the cross beam was welded incorrectly on one side, which twisted the frame just enough for the shelves not to be able to slide into the grooves at all. After a lot of hammering and trying to straighten it, we had to disassemble the whole thing and then turn the side around, which made it more easy to put together- but still not as easy as it should have been. We won't be able to connect shelves to the outside beam not though on that one side bc of that issue.

I have purchased several of these shelves in the past; however, the current one that I recently purchased is not near the quality of the previous ones. The metal is thinner and the construction is out of line on the top of the end units. It was nearly impossible to get the top shelf rails to attach. Only after laying the assembled parts on its side on the concrete floor was I able to use a dead blow hammer to beat the attachment points into the slots while using a pry bar to align the tabs. Worst jigsaw puzzle ever!

These are sturdy and easy to assemble IF they don't get bent during shipping. I bought 2 of these. The first one took FOREVER to assemble because it was bent "out of square" just a little bit so I had to use a rubber mallet to get the railing in and then it was a nightmare to get the crossbars lined up so the pins would fit in. The 2nd unit went together like a breeze in 15 minutes by myself. I need something to fit in the holes (notated in photo with a red arrow) to be able to hang stuff if anyone has found something. Overall these are AWESOME shelves

I have purchased 2 so far and plan to purchase 2 more! My comments: WHAT THEY ARE: - Very sturdy and extremely well engineered and built. - Excellent for commercial and light industrial use, and perfect for home use in a garage, basement or any other home storage area. I'm sure they will not disappoint. - High quality, made in TAIWAN, NOT China, so finish is high quality and NO sharp edges like found in lesser quality mainland produced products. - Attractive paint finish that will look great in any warehouse, garage or basement. - EASY and QUICK to assemble by ONE person with NO (zero!) tools needed, though it is best to keep a rubber mallet or small piece of 2x4 handy to more easily tap in the cross beams into the slots. - They are HEAVY! Each full unit weighs about 120 pounds in the box, so do have someone else to help you or at least ask someone at the store to help you with loading them onto the cart and onto your vehicle. - Can be "daisy-chained," one assembled into the other which if you buy several can free up a frame end and allow you to build an extra unit for every 3 purchased if you spread out the number of shelves (ie, 3 shelves each instead of 4). - Make sure that when you buy it that you are getting the Member's Mark unit that is made in Taiwan. One Sam's Club store had put the very similar, but in my opinion not as good, competitor's unit (a well-known brand, but lower weight rating, and not the same quality IMO) in the place where these would be stocked and I had to get the store manager to have someone pull the right ones down from the top of the store pallet racking. - Regarding other comments about damaged units, I had very minor damage on the end of a channel in one of them but it was easily straightened. Best to inspect the unit at before taking it away from the store if you can rather than getting stuck with a damaged one or having to return a 120 pound white elephant!. And having the open box in your vehicle is not a big deal anyway because once you get it to where you're going, the best way to unload it from your vehicle by yourself is to open the box and take out the pieces one at a time instead of trying to move the whole thing at once. WHAT THEY ARE NOT: - As sturdy as they are, they are NOT pallet racking and I would not recommend using them for pallet storage. - In my opinion, and again as sturdy and well-built as they are, I would not recommend them for heavy industrial use, and personally, I would not load them to the stated maximum capacity of 2,500 pounds per shelf. Use common sense when loading them: heavier items toward the ends of the shelves and on the bottom shelf, etc. THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS DON'T MENTION: - Make SURE that you check EACH cross beam for proper, full insertion into each slot in the frame, and that you check EACH shelf support channel as you install them for proper and full insertion of the pins that secure the channel ends to the cross beams (checking to make sure the pin end is visible coming out of the bottom of the channel and tapping the channels sideways to make sure they are pinned in on both ends is a good way to do this). It's very easy to inadvertently miss one slot when inserting the cross beams, or to feel that a pin was properly inserted and yet miss the holes in the channel and look like it is properly assembled. - Keep the lengthwise wires of the wire shelves UP and the short crossway wire side down when positioning the wire shelves otherwise the wires at the edges rest only on the pin heads (you'll see what I mean when you assemble it). - The wire shelves are sturdy and useful as is, but f you need to store small items and want to have a solid shelf without the holes, you can go to Lowe's or HD and have them cut 1/4" or 1/2" thick plywood or floor underlayment to line the shelves with: 22" wide x 71-3/4" long does the trick to make sure the wood rests completely on the shelf to best spread the load.

I bought this to replace an old one that I gave away before I moved . this one I purchased at Sam's Club is absolute junk super flimsy does not fit together. We got it halfway together it's all bent up. So at that point we have decided to box it back up and return it to Sam's. I would not recommend anybody waste their time with this shelf. It is nothing like the ones thay carried seven or eight years ago. The Box may look the same or similar. But the quality is absolutely junk. I would give it a zero star if that were an option.

This purchase was late getting here, and when it finally arrived the package was bent so bad that it couldn’t be assembled. Then I had to take it back to my local Sam’s. Just to be told that it would have to be reordered and it would be a while before I would receive another one. Because it was on back order and out of stock. I’ve learned my lesson and will never order anything from you again!!!!!

Ordered two Member's Mark 4-self Industrial Storage Racks. They were in boxes that were big, bulky and quite heavy. Had to borrow a mini van with seats removed to transport home. Once home, they were lugged up a flight of stairs to a walk in attic on the second floor. . Once the boxes were opened and assembly was to begin, it was discovered that one of the side support systems on one of the racks had failed to be welded. This required the rack to be disassembled, returned to box, secured in box, transported back down the stairs, back into the back of the borrowed mini van and returned to store for a replacement. Luckily, there was one available in the store but this requires a repeat of the whole pick-up, transport, assemble ordeal.

I've built three of these shelves now. The first one was flawless, second had some alignment issues and I ended up having to drill the frame a bit to make it fit. Third one... Nothing lines up right, wire racks all fit like crap, seems like QC went out the window.

Did not know what to expect from these, especially when it came to assembly but to our surprise it was so easy and quick. Took my husband and I about maybe 20 mins to put 2 of them together. Literally took longer to take all of the parts down to the basement than to assemble. They feel sturdy and fit the plastic bins which we also got from Sam's on sale perfectly. Highly recommend.
