I have used it to clean up a room that my dog has had accidents in, my daughters room cleaning up spilled juice and kid messes, mud from my husbands boots, and also the throw rug I have in the kitchen. It has gotten deep down into the carpets which are very thick and long fibers, and I actually feel like my carpets are clean. The handheld attachment for the sofa is amazing, and I have actually used it for spot cleaning the carpet due to spills. Not only does this machine clean like a beast, but the best thing is that the entire machine comes apart. The deep clean setting was used for all the tough pet and toddler stains in the living room and quick clean worked well in the bedrooms. We have creamed colored carpet in only two rooms of our house - the rest is tiled - and a Chocolate Lab who loves to rub and roll on the carpet after he has eaten. It was pretty disgusting when then moved in 3 years ago with multiple stains and only got worse with two dogs, a husband in landscaping, and constantly traffic. I first thought I'd use it on the express setting since we just had our carpets cleaned and was amazed how much dirt came up.
