I had bought the full size scotsman ice maker 9 years ago and it died. Of course price had almost doubled in 9 years and couldn't spend that much money on a new one. I did research and saw great reviews on the Opal 2 GE. I got it and love it. It is perfect makes a lot of ice. I have the app and have it on time for only 5 hours since the ice stays for several hours in the ice bucket. The app allows you to turn on and off if needed or set a calendar to come on like an alarm and turn off at the programmed time.

I was given this as a Christmas gift after returning 2 other ones that did not have the ability to keep ice frozen. This machine is quiet, makes enough ice and keeps it frozen leaving room in my freezer for food. I use this ice all day in my coffee, water, smoothies or soda. It's an investment but I have found it to be worth the price.

Purchased an Opal 2.0 Nugget ice maker for my wife as a Christmas present. She's always loved crunching ice at Sonic and, when I'd heard that GE had a machine for consumer/home use, I decided to buy one. In a word, she LOVES her new nugget ice maker!! I've been sourcing ice from the machine, as well, even though we have an in-door unit on our GE Monogram refrigerator/freezer. Frankly, I prefer the, smaller, "soft" ice nuggets in my morning orange juice. Although we haven't had our new ice maker very long, I'm very pleased with it so far. While it's not inexpensive, the quality is there and I'm betting I'll save some money this summer as my wife and I drive by Sonic rather than pulling in for a cup of soda and their chewable ice nuggets! One final point...the unit has nice LED lighting that looks fantastic reflecting off the ice and adds to the overall quality image of the appliance.

The unit is great and getting the good chewable ice is awesome. It's a bit of work in regards to having to save the ice in the freezer since the unit doesn't have freezer capability to store the ice for later usage. Then the cleaning needed. It's a good ice maker overall, we enjoy the ice it makes! Although from day 1, the draw that hold the ice has condensation in between the panels of the draw as well as finger prints. Not sure if it's due to manufacturer handling it or it was a returned unit we got. We are quite disappointed on that since this is not a cheap ice machine we bought.

This ice maker was a gift from my family and I love it so much! I love the size of the ice, the fact that it refills the ice as you use it, it's quiet, its compact and very easy to use. Now I'm asked to bring ice to places because everyone loves this ice!

I bought this when my first generation Opal icemaker quit making ice. This is an awesome improvement over the first generation. it is much quieter, makes ice faster and also has Wi-Fi rather than the previous bluetooth connection for setting the ice making schedule on the machine.

I bought this to use while awaiting repairs on the refrigerator ice maker I love this so much I dont care if the refrigerator gets repaired or not. The ice maker keeps up with demand on these hot summer days and I live the nugget ice. Best decision to purchase!

I owned the very first version of this machine for many years and recently due to several minor but annoying problems I decided to purchase a new one. this machine is even better than the previous one, it is quick and very quiet, I couldn't be happier.

I love the product. This is my second one. The first lasted just one year but I had not cleaned it as often as recommended so I took ownership of that and just replaced it. This new one has been about 4 months and it has grinded and moaned and made terrible noises since it was about 2 months old. I clean it often but the loud noise is horrific

So far we are living the ice maker. I had a little snag getting it to make ice at first (could have been something on my end). But, now it continues to do great! When you open the ice holder there is a little dripping, so make sure you have the provided tray there to catch it if it does dribble. I'm using Distilled water as one of recommendations even though I think the water in my area not too hard. Would recommend bringing ice maker to sink for the cleaning so easier to drain it. I'm a bit of an ice snob and this is yummy ice for sure!
