I’ve had my ice maker for 6 months now and it was working perfectly and I took care of it very well (descaling every month, wiping bins out etc) and 2 days ago it randomly stopped making ice. I’ve tried everything and just can’t get it to work. Hopefully the customer service helps me out with this because it WAS NOT CHEAP!

We’ve had the ice maker 1 month now and so far it’s been great. It is wonderful having a constant supply of ice, whereas or refrigerator with 2 ice makers just couldn’t keep up. It was easy to set up out of the box. The only thing of concern is that the ice maker is not entirely quiet all the time, but one gets used to it over time. Overall, a great addition to our kitchen.

Bought this since the family wanted pebble ice. Would not buy this again. In about a month the unit is so noisy that you have to unplug it at night. It makes squealing noises that are so loud, you cannot even watch TV over the noise. It will absolutely wake you up during the night while you are sleeping.

I absolutely will buy another one when this one quits, if that ever happens. I used to go to sonic at least 5-6 times a week, I don’t now, so it is actually paying for itself. The ice is soft and easy to eat, just the right size. It can be turned off it you need it off and during no use it actually does like a sleep mode where it quits producing, like overnight, then in the morning just open it, move the ice around and it starts producing again. Really nice machine and well worth the money, I am not wealthy but some things are just worth paying extra for. It is General Electric, a good product. I do recommend putting a dish cloth in front where the “drip tray” is to absorb the water that drips when you open the ice bin. It is not necessary, it just makes me feel better that it is there.

We love the ice maker. It makes the best ice and keeps our drinks cold. The only downfall is I wished it had a dispenser on the front like my French door refrigerator. Takes a hand to pull out ice bin and another hand to scoop the ice. Your drink has to sit on the counter.

We originally participated in the kickstarter for Opal. We loved our original Opal. It did have some issues and finally died 2 years ago. We said we would not buy another one because of the price. For 2 long years, we had bagged ice from every store and restaurant in town. We had ice from the fridge door, ice from trays, and nothing compares to an Opal. The Opal 2.0 by GE is WORTH EVERY PENNY! They have taken all the issues we had with the original Opal and made them disappear! The noise, the size, the weight, the lack of extra dispenser. I mean EVERYTHING! This is an ice lover's dream come true!

This product does everything I needed to do and more. It makes minimum noise which does not bother me at all because it’s in the kitchen, but it makes enough ice and never runs out considering how much ice I use a day. With the Wi-Fi feature. I am able to set it to come on and go off at a certain time so it’s definitely worth his weight in gold. My icemaker originally did not come with it the water well, but I was able to buy one and add it on.

This was a Christmas gift for my wife because she would have me go to the store to get a cup of the “good ice” often. We are both happy with our new GE Profile Opal 2.0 Ice-Maker with extra Easy-Fill Water Tank . Definitely recommend the water tank. We now don’t need to waste fuel or time driving to the store for nugget ice. It was easy to set up. You can hear it running in our small kitchen however it’s not annoyingly loud just a gentle hum. We purchased the water filter too which is a nice option feature. Have been using it constantly for a month now without any issues. When setting it up just follow the instructions. We live in an area with hard water so we follow the descaling recommendation of every 2-3 weeks. Working virtually from home I find that I am drinking more water more often with the good ice even though it’s winter here because it’s so much more refreshing with this ice. This unit is on the expensive side however it’s been a good investment so far. We’ve had a few parties and our guests enjoy the ice too. More time is needed to know how durable it will be. After a year it would be good to give another review.

The output of this machine, nugget ice, is great and the whole family loves it…nobody is using our refrigerators ice anymore! The unit is a bit loud when running and the ice does melt consistently within the unit. Would appreciate more robust insulation, for both the noise and the ice itself (even if there is not a viewing window)…

I was skeptical about buying a counter top ice maker but it worked out perfect. The only thing I recommend is to clean it prior to using and to use bottled water. I tried it with tap water and I didn’t like the taste. Switched to bottle water and it tastes good. There is a spot for a filter but the filters are still out of stock. Overall, very pleased with this ice maker.
