Works great! At this price point it makes really "Good Ice". It isn't exactly like the drive-in's pellet ice, but close. I like the timer for daily start/stop and the side fill attachment makes it easier to add water as needed. It is a large appliance so I put it in my pantry.

This icemaker is relatively easy to set up. It is moderately loud, about the level of a quiet dishwasher. The ice is fantastic! Our liquid intake has definitely gone up since purchasing the icemaker. Highly recommend the side water tank option - much easier to fill with water. Only negatives are the ice will form a pile and trigger the ice maker to shut off before the bin is completely full. You have to spread the ice out to get it to start making ice again. Also requires periodic cleaning/descaling. Well the worth the minor gripes for great quality nugget ice.

My wife has always loved the "Sonic Ice" and we would buy bags of it wherever we could find it. So happy to have the ability to easily make this ice at home. The Opal 2.0 was super easy to set up and makes ice very quickly for our family. The ability to recycle the water when the ice melts in the container was a huge benefit over the competitive products I researched. So far, we are very happy. We did buy the optional water filter online after we purchased the ice maker. Water filter was very easy to install and makes the ice taste more "clean." We are super happy with the purchase.

This ice machine is awesome! Our ice maker went out on our refrigerator and I had already purchased this for my bar. We moved it into our kitchen since it is quiet and perfect size for the counter. The ice production is quick it only takes a few minutes for it to make enough ice for our family of 4 and including guests. It is easy to install and use. Love this product.

So, this machine worked great first few days then one day it was running for a good hour and it started making noise that steadily got louder and louder. Believe it was stuck trying churn out ice not quite sure. Definitely not a good noise. Tried turning off power but that did nothing. Finally, had to unplug it. Waited a few hours and turned it on again. Took about an hour and started making the same noise again. So, long story short, called GE and returned it. They are sending me a new one. Hopefully the last one was a lemon b/c it made ice fairly quickly.

So far so good, it started making ice within minutes. It makes some noise when making ice, but not so much to interrupt a movie or conversation. I love the fact that I can monitor it remotely through the app. It's a pretty hefty appliance and will take a good amount of counter space, but I love this kind of ice, so it's a small sacrifice to pay. The ice maker has a self clean function, so I keep it near my sink to make things easier when cleaning it. It has a hose in the back of the unit that must drain once the cleaning cycle is complete, so i simply detach it and drain it straight into the sink. The ice maker is pricey, so its more of a luxury item for me, but so far its worth it because I love ice with all my drinks. Dentist also recommend this sort of ice for anyone that loves to chew ice, like myself.

I love ice so much that I annoy my family with my constant crunching. The fast food restaurant chain with the "good ice" should be buying it from me. I use filtered water from my refrigerator because that's what I'm used to drinking, but my sister has the same machine and she uses tap water. We both get soft, perfect, small barrels of the best ice ever. It's so soft that I'm told that crunching is much less obnoxious than it was before.

This product is a very expensive dud. I have followed every instruction to clean. It continually defrosts after making a handful of ice. Sometimes it will work perfectly for a few hours. The online complaints are crazy. I bought because a friend has it and hers works OK. Get a cheap one because it will outcast the opal 2.0. Shame on GE for this product.

Absolutely a perfect purchase. We needed something small but mighty, especially during the summer months. A tip of advice I learned is to make sure the water doesn’t run out! If you do, your subject to the machine to stop working properly! If you keep it full you’ll have a ice machine for a long time! I love that the ice maker is slim, compact and the water container sits perfectly neat right next to it. I am very picky with appliances, especially ones that are bulky. I was impressed with this design considerably we live in a small area. Loved this ice maker for two days, then it started making a loud squeaking noise. Went to the owners manual troubleshooting .... it says "may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The defost cycle is automatic, and may take 30-45 minutes.During this time, the front button won’t respond. More frequent squeaking usually requires white vinegar cleaning to remove internal mineral scale buildup". Turned off machine overnight ran cleaning cycle with white vinegar (note - machine did not make "squeaking" sound during cleaning cycle.) with cleaning cycle completed drained the white vinegar solution and ran another cleaning cycle with clean water. Once the ice maker started making ice the Squeaking started up again.
