Setting the ice maker was straight forward. Add tsp of bleach and required cups of water and let the system flush and repeat with just water to clear out any residue chemical. I find that if you are near the sink for the initial sanitizing it makes it easier to flush out the liquid. Now once sanitizing is complete, place the ice maker to the end state location. Fill the water reservoir (side of machine) with clean water. I use Reverse Osmosis (RO) water to produce clean tasting ice. I reckon this would cut down with any mineral buildup as well. The ice maker will begin to make ice. You will hear the hum, buzz that any fridge makes while it is cooling. All is normal and you will forget it once you get used to it. It has Wifi connectivity which is great to control on/off and check progress. I personally do not use it much. The ice is plenty quick for me. Next day I had a bin full of pellet ice. Great ice and any remaining melted ice will go back and be remade into ice. In summary: Pros— *Great ice and consistent pellet shapes *The bin is lit with white light that can be dimmed or turned off *Includes scoop and liquid tray *Looks great on the counter and does not take up too much space Cons— *Noisy if you are sensitive to humming and buzzing *When removing ice bucket to retrieve ice, drops of water will occur meaning you will need to clean the tray of spilled droplets of water *Do not overfill the water reservoir or machine will not pump water to make ice, received “add water” notification even though the reservoir is full *Machine is imported and quality can be of concern when warranty, very limited 1 year expires

Have only had this product up and running for About a week now, but the quality of the ice is absolutely amazing and as close to sonic ice as you could get. It is also very quick at making ice so you can guarantee that you will have a Cup full of ice in no time

Smart design, stylish appearance, and perfect nugget ice. I used to buy ice from Sonic before I splurged on this ice maker. What I didn't realize is that freshly-made nugget ice has the perfect "chew", far superior to re-frozen Sonic ice. I'm happy and hydrated.

The three different ice size selection blows my mind. The melting ice returns to the side tank to remake ice is just genius.

Refilling ice cube trays is now a thing of the past. This might have just saved my life. Wife told me next time I put a empty ice cube tray back in the freezer she was going to kill me. I bought this and now I don't use Ice Cube trays, and better yet I'm still alive. Now if I can just find a device to lift the toilet seat for me.

Excllent ice maker, perfect for our family use. Minor problem is that water leaks out whenever you get ice and the drip tray is not very good. Other than that, love it. Have only had it for a month, hoping that it's easy to clean and that it lasts a long time.

This is my second icemaker since they came out. 1st one the compressor died and would not start after 4 years. This new model runs cooler and this helps in ice making. This model seems to be much better than the 1st model. The ice bucket is easier to get out and does not drip all over everything keeping the ice maker itself much cleaner. The only thing that is different mechanically/functionally is the water reservoir is a tad bit smaller only holding 3/4 gallon of water but that isn't a huge item that would take away from owning one of these nugget icemakers. All in all, this is a very good icemaker and keeps a household of 6 with plenty of nugget ice.

The Opal is working fine but the side tank is not. If everything worked, I would give it a 5*. It worked for a few days but then it stopped feeding water into the machine, and it allows the pump to run dry. We just keep having to put water in the machine rather than in the tank.

This is our first ice maker to use and love the ice it makes along with the ability to set a schedule for the making of ice. We have ice ready when arriving home after work each day along with weekends. It does however make more noise than expected. Overall a really nice unit.

Makes great ice for drinks. We use it at our Hawaii home for individual drinks and use our fridges ice maker for ice chests and blender drinks. You will need a more industrial ice maker if you currently use a lot of bagged ice or fill ice chests often.
