My wife and I are obsessed with this machine. As the title suggests, we are thrilled with the ice. The only thing I did not understand is why an ice machine needed to have wi-fi. The answer is it doesn’t. We hooked up the wi-fi several days after starting the operations, and that’s when the machine started screwing up, not making ice when it was needed, or saying “add water” when the side tank was completely full. We disconnected the wi-fi and all is well in the world again. Highly recommended.

We have been pleasantly surprised at how well this ice maker works and how easy it is to use. The ice maker on our refrigerator went out and we were looking for a nice unit that would last us until it was time to get a new refrigerator. But we might be in trouble! We love the nugget ice this unit makes and it is very convenient to use. We dump some in the freezer so we always have some on hand but the fresh ice right out of the unit is the best. I'm sure you could use tap water but we pour water from our Brita pitcher into the tank. It has worked excellent and the ice tastes fantastic! Highly recommend!

This ice maker is HORRIBLE. The concept is great and the ice is so so amazing, that is when it works. We had our first machine for about 4-5 months before something broke inside and started leaking everywhere. We got our second machine this is where it goes downhill it started making a screeching noise and would go into defrost constantly. They send a new one, same issue but this one couldn’t event make a full tray of ice not to mention the box it was delivered in was destroyed and the unit had a dent on the side. Another one was sent it ran perfect for literally 48 hours and then has barely made any ice it’s just been in defrost mode. Save yourself some time and headache and do not buy. So unfortunate, it could’ve been a great product.

So far I am enjoying said product. GE is the epitome of American innovation. The Opal Nugget 2.0 ice maker product supported my little get together with ice to spare. I am happy because the wife is happy. Ice cold cocktails shaken and stirred. God Bless GE, God Bless America 🇺🇸!

The machine works as promised. Easy to set up and maintain. Storage bin is small but works for 2-3 people with moderate use, not for a dinner party. Ice quality is perfect. It would be nice to have an option for hook up for continuous water supply. It is a bit noisy but we have it in another room. Clearly a luxury but we love it!

We absolutely love our GE Nugget Ice maker. For a family of 5, 3 being teens and all their friends that flow in and out of our home, it keeps up like a champ! Quickly makes ice & keeps us stocked with a busy home. Super easy to clean, fill water in both the extra side tank and in the actual maker under the ice bin. We love our ice maker and won’t go back to using anything but! You won’t be sorry for your investment.

I didn’t know nugget ice makers even existed until it was included on an article with expensive items you don’t need but don’t regret buying. This was out of my comfortable price range but I needed something to keep me cool through the summer as we have no AC. This ice maker has helped get me through the hot 104°+ days. I honestly just snack on this ice at the hottest parts of the day and it cools my body down so much. Any other ice maker could do that too yes, but this one makes small, gentle on your teeth, easy to chew ice. I only use bottled water and drinks also taste so much better, especially with tea, soda, or just by itself. It does take a bit for the bin to fill up but I have the app to schedule it to turn on an hour and a half to two hours before I’m even up so there will be plenty ready when I am. Once you have that first batch, it’s easy for it to keep up the rest of the day so you never run out. It’s not refrigerated but the ice keeps well that even if you leave it for several hours, there will still be a lot waiting because it takes a while for it to melt completely. Now the downside of all this is that, the upkeep is a lot of work. It asks to be sanitized once a week at least. This cleaning cycle is a tiny bit of bleach with water, then a few rinse cycles. I’m sure this is to prolong the life of the ice maker but that seems excessive so I usually stretch it to once every two weeks. To offset that, I empty any remaining water from that day and wipe down the bin, the reservoir, and all along the walls every night before putting fresh water in for the morning. The descale warning already came up for me a month into using the maker but it’s regularly on all day so that might be why. It’s the same process as before but with vinegar and has to be left for 18 hours so you’ll be a day without ice. Other than that, this has been one of the best purchases I‘ve ever made. I just hope it lasts for a few years before it gives out because of the hefty price. If you can afford it, don’t mind the regular maintenance, and want your own sonic ice at your disposal, it’s well worth getting.

Our entire family loves this ice machine...not cheap but the ice it makes is perfect! With the side reservoir we are refilling every other day because we all love the ice! Hoping this machine lasts for years and if it does, it'll be worth every penny.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I run a portable ice maker almost constantly. In fact, I’ve worn 2 out over the last couple years. Although cheap , they just did not last and the ice was just OK. The ice is actually pellets about 1/2” long and 1/4” in diameter. It is soft enough to chew and hard enough not to water down your drinks. One other great option in this ice maker is the self cleaning option. So long as I use it weekly as recommended, I’ve not seen mold take hold the way it did in the other style ice makers.I used the Bluetooth app and set up a run schedule to make life even easier for us. Even with the price, I have to give this 5 out of 5. When the box arrived I was so excited. The box was big but I was able to move it into the kitchen easily with no help. The setup instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. After doing GE's recommended 1st cleaning (which is also easy), the ice marker powered on and got right to work.read the instructions on how to work the machine and how the machine works. Because it's so easy to setup, don't be tempted to start making ice until you read. Also, the ice maker isn't obnoxiously loud.

Something to expensive should not stop working after just 6 months. We’ve done everything we are supposed to, regarding cleaning and using distilled water . The ice maker only makes half of the ice it used to and Keeps defrosting every hour. Very frustrating. Now they are sending me a “refurbished” unit. Even though mine is practically brand new. I’m not happy.
