It is too early to give a detailed review as we have just installed the ice maker today, but suffice it to say that it was easy to set up and it is already making ice just 15-20 minutes after finishing the set up. It makes a low humming noise, but not intrusive. It is attractive and does not feel "out of place" in our kitchen.

Our entire family loves this ice machine...not cheap but the ice it makes is perfect! With the side reservoir we are refilling every other day because we all love the ice! Hoping this machine lasts for years and if it does, it'll be worth every penny.

I am so impressed with my opal ice maker! It's easy to set up, easy to use and with the smart HQ app I can turn it on form work and have fresh ice waiting for me when I get home! BEST purchase I have made in years should have got one a long time ago.

I was so in love with this ice machine. I love chewing on ice so this came in very handy. It was working great, however all of a sudden it stop making ice. Done everything it shows online from cleaning, to resetting, to disconnect for couple of day and still nothing. Very disappointed that it's so expenses and the warranty is only a year. Too expensive to have such horrible warranty. It's like it knows as soon as the year is up it will die on you.

Wonderful nugget ice maker. The best you can buy. It's pretty quiet, makes ice fast and I love that you can set an on/off schedule with the app. However, it is expensive and if it stops working hopefully you're still under warranty because your options for repair are non-existent. We're on our second unit because the last one started leaking 6 months after the warranty ended and there was nothing we could do but junk it and buy a new one.

Just used the Opal for my first mass family visit. Worked perfectly and the family preferred the Opal ice over the freezer ice. Side reservoir is so easy to refill as needed based upon usage. Low humming when running was unobtrusive and barely noticable.

Easy to install, solidly packaged (one note is that I would recommend redesigning the packaging so it’s reusable...maybe using the clips like they put on big flatscreen tv boxes) instructions are very straightforward. Easy to clean, easy to fill the side tank which is way more convenient than using the reservoir. Ice starts in less than 20 minutes and you’ll have a usable amount in about an hour. WiFi is a great feature to set a schedule so it’s not running 24/7. If you’ve been looking for the “good ice” at home, this is the machine for you.

I love my new opal 2.0. I had the previous version which did stop working about a year and a half after I got it, but luckily I had the full replacement insurance which covered most of the cost of the opal 2.0. I would say it is always worth it to get the extra insurance on these as no matter how well you treat them, they are only made to last about a year of continuous use. Using only distilled water will extend the life as long as possible but in the end they all stop working in my experience, though the opal did last the longest of any model I ever had. I have had Oster, Newaire, Mueller, and Solon, plus a few names I never heard of from china and the opal worked longer than all of them. It also has a great design and a gallon side tank so requires less refilling than most other countertop machines.

We have been pleasantly surprised at how well this ice maker works and how easy it is to use. The ice maker on our refrigerator went out and we were looking for a nice unit that would last us until it was time to get a new refrigerator. But we might be in trouble! We love the nugget ice this unit makes and it is very convenient to use. We dump some in the freezer so we always have some on hand but the fresh ice right out of the unit is the best. I'm sure you could use tap water but we pour water from our Brita pitcher into the tank. It has worked excellent and the ice tastes fantastic! Highly recommend!

This Nugget ice maker is awesome! Granted, we've only had it for a few weeks, but it has worked like a charm since the first run. Takes about 2:50 hours to fill up the bin with small, Nugget ice (it's harder in consistency than Sonic's). Its motor produces a humming noise while working, but it's nothing so loud to complain about. The side tank is really helpful when you want to make a lot of ice. There are only two "Cons" for me: 1. It's heavy, so I won't be able to easily move it to clean/drain w/o my Husband's help. 2. Ice melts quickly. We batch make ice for the week, so it has to be immediately removed and put into Ziplock bags destined for the freezer after the cycle ends so as to not melt. And since it's already somewhat soft at the end of the cycle, we take the Ziplock bag out of the freezer after about 45 minutes and break the Nuggets up before they completely freeze solid. It's pricey, but due to our inconsistent, possessed, Fridge Ice Maker that starts and stops whenever it feels like it, this countertop Ice Maker has been a lifesaver. Well worth the cost of not having to go out and randomly purchase bags of ice (or a new Fridge!). The App has worked flawlessly as well.
