My wife & I absolutely love this product. We have nothing negative to say about it . We have a fairly new LG frig thats amazing , but the ice maker sucks...especially in the summer time or if guests are over . So we did some research and made the investment to get this amazing ice maker . It looks great on the counter & is always full of ice as long as your adding water to the tank every other day.

Overall really good product. Works as described & produces a large amount of ice. The auxiliary tank is very useful & reduces time of adding water to the maker. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was due the noise of the unit when making ice. Every time you remove a scoop of ice the maker automatically come on and I feel is a little noisy.

We love our Opal. We’ve had it for the last 3 years. My husband couldn’t live without it. He uses it the absolute most. My sister In-law bought one for her daughter’s birthday. Size is perfect and makes ice quickly. I definitely recommend getting the water filter. I have no problem giving it 5 stars!

I rent, so I have to deal with the fridge my landlord gave us. I use lots of ice, so having to constantly fill ice cube trays is so tedious and annoying! I've been wanting to get an ice maker for a while now!! Having a countertop ice maker makes things so much easier!! Having a side tank reservoir is great too!! It makes ice quickly and I love that they are nugget sized! Love it.!

I love everything about my ice maker! It’s easy to use and makes awesome ice! I love that I can use my phone app for it and set it for a schedule. It starts at 6am and stops at 6pm for my everyday use! Fits nicely on my counter and looks nice! It does make some noise while making ice which is expected but it’s not too loud. If I have the tv on I don’t even notice it. The extra water reservoir is nice so I don’t have to be constantly refill it. I would definitely recommend. While it is expensive I feel it’s worth it and would definitely buy again!

This product is a very expensive dud. I have followed every instruction to clean. It continually defrosts after making a handful of ice. Sometimes it will work perfectly for a few hours. The online complaints are crazy. I bought because a friend has it and hers works OK. Get a cheap one because it will outcast the opal 2.0. Shame on GE for this product.

After six months of operation it stopped making ice. The message “add water” lights up and will not go off regardless of how much water is added. It will not run the cleaning cycle. I have cleaned and descaled the ice maker every time that was called for. There is nothing about this issue in the manual or easily located online. I’ll try to reach someone in the service department tomorrow (Monday). While it worked it made great ice. My only complaint before now was the frequency of needed cleaning and/or descaling.

I love the WiFi capabilities so when I’m on the way home I can start making some ice so it’s ready. The SmartHQ app is so helpful and even notifies when it needs to be cleaned. The cleaning process is actually pretty easy just a little lengthy sometimes. All in all, I’m in love with it

I mean, what can I say, an at home ice maker that makes the “good ice”, what’s not to love. Pros: makes ice much faster than I was anticipating and the extra side water container is great! Minor con: it’s admittedly larger/heavier than I was anticipating (although that’s my fault for not reading the description carefully). It ended up in our basement (wanted it in our bar area), but we’re still super happy with this purchase!

In general I love this machine, I find it's noise level acceptable, and love the quality of the ice. The main cons are the price, and how cleaning requires me to move the machine around to access the drain hoses. That said I used to barely use ice in my drinks and I bought this for a crushed ice replacement in cocktails. Now I use ice in nearly every cold drink I have at home. There are now other nugget ice makers out there for less expense, but this one is really much better build quality.
