In our week of use since installing the Opal ice maker we've had nothing but praise for it. Scheduling the ice maker operation remotely, through the provided mobile phone app, was a breeze. Establishing a durable connection to our wifi network was also simple. The type of pellet ice created is absolutely the best and is significantly colder than expected. The size of the bin and speed of creation is entirely adequate for our small family, but for larger families and gatherings, the ice created may need to be moved to supplemental storage containers occasionally since the ice maker will automatically shut off when the integrated bin is full.

The ice is amazing. I have the opal 1 as well, and that one is amazing. But I like the look of the opal 2.0 way better, but there are some issues with the opal 2.0 the thing squeals all the time. So if it didn’t squeal all the time it would be a 4 to 5 star rating from me. They did do some good upgrades from the last model but obviously they haven’t figured out the icing up issue. From what I’ve read the squealing is do to icing up and then it defrosts itself to fix it. But it spends more time defrosting than making ice ,and let’s be honest for how much these things cost they should be in better working order especially when you make a 2.0.

So... Our journey with the ol' XPIO13SCSS had a very rough start. We set it up and it happily provided us with ice for the day. Then, seemingly in protest, it stopped. We added little Olaf and Vanilla Ice signs to give it some encouragement, but nothing would make it show up to work like the rest of us. Finally, we added some matching here/out of office signs to really make it part of the team. At that point, we also downloaded the app and hooked it up to the internet. We set a schedule just like the rest of us, it ran an update and smooth sailing. It makes ice while we're here and goes to sleep when we're not. It's much happier and drinks are much colder. So... Give it a schedule and it will be much happier, and so will you.

Great ice maker. I was looking for a countertop ice maker for my cottage because our water is not drinkable. Yes the ice marker is a little bigger and pricey then others but it’s worth it!! Makes great ice. It does stick together if you put it directly i. The freezer ice bucket. If you put it in a gallon ziplock bag it keeps well. Highly recommend!!

We purchased one at work and I get ice everyday. I absolutely love pebble ice. I live where we have Sonic restaurants on every corner. There isn’t any other place comparable when it comes to ice. This brings Sonic ice right inside my kitchen. This is a great purchase for pebble ice fans!!

We are drinking more water because the ice is just that good. I have heard reviews that the ice maker is noisy, it's an ice maker and will produce some noise but it is a non issue for us. Produces a good amount and the 2.0 is certainly worth the extra cost; having new ice when we want it; on a schedule is a bonus.

We’ve had our ice maker for a few weeks now, and we love it so far. Makes plenty of ice for us every day, and love that it’s easy to clean. It does take up a bit of counter space, but it’s so worth it. The nugget ice is perfect, and just like that popular fast food chain ice!

I love the ice from this machine. I bought the 2.0 because it was told to be quieter. It was at first, but now it is very noisy. Unfortunately, the noise issue is not a warranty issue. Please note--you must clean this machine weekly. This is a relatively time-consuming process...but if you want to keep your warranty, you'd better do that... Still worth it...

We absolutely love sonic ice and when our ice maker in our condo broke we decide to get a tabletop ice maker. This was beyond our expectations. Just in time for Thanksgiving and our big family. It kept up with our demands and was was constantly full. I was worried it would be too large because our kitchen it not very big, but it fit perfect.

The Opal ice maker is a must have if you have a huge family who loves ice! It makes a load of ice in no time and recycles the melted ice water so your machine always has ice. It also has an app which you can use to monitor your ice maker. A great buy!
