This can be discouraging, we know. Your new icemaker may make sounds that are not familiar, but thankfully, most of these sounds are normal. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls, and countertops can amplify these sounds. If black residue is seen inside the Opal Ice Maker (including hoses and tanks), it can be caused by mineral build-up in the machine. Even with filtered water, minerals come through that will build up over time.
