We had been unhappy with our built in icemaker (upright Samsung Frig/frz), but we go through a lot of ice every day, and short of a large commercial icemaker we thought we had no options. By chance I happened across this gem.... It does take a bit more counter space than we'd like, but the ice and speed of production is excellent. (we use distilled water only, so no matter the beverage its's the only thing talking to your taste buds.) Would highly recommend.

I am very pleased with this Ice Maker. The size of the unit is small enough to be not be cumbersome, but makes a good amount of ice daily. It has a sleek design, so it looks simple and unassuming. The size and softness of the ice is perfect for all types of drinks- I especially enjoy it with soda, iced tea, and making smoothies.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Setting this up definitely requires some time, but for good cause for disinfection + taste. Personally for me my kitchen fridge doesn't make ice very quickly, and we always run out at parties. It takes about 2-3 hours to fill up the bin, so preparation is key here. I will use this for filling up my yeti coolers for the weekend, making mint juleps, and having nicer crunchy. My dogs also love the crunchy ice that's easier on their teeth.

So far all is going well and we love the ice that this machine makes. We have had to clean it twice at the machines request, which was like cleaning a coffee maker... not much of an issue. We hope that this ice machine keeps on working... now that we have it... can't live without it. Fresh, nicely sized, and "chewable ice" for cocktails is quite enjoyable.

Where to begin? The ice is perfect - in shape, consistency and chew (yes, I have ice chewers!) from kids drinks to adult beverages it's great. My husband especially likes the wifi capability and scheduling so that the ice is ready when we want it. Once it gets going it keeps the ice container full and much to our surprise there was still ice the next day in the bin. Can't wait to use it poolside under the cabana this summer!

This ice maker is actually great at making ice, but comes with weekly recommendations to clean the device. In 2 weeks time the reservoir had already developed an odor. I also had expected that it could sustain ice, but the ice melts and recreates new ice. Despite these imperfections I still enjoy the ice maker, and don't plan on taking it back.

Overall a great product. Great looking, produces nice ice, relatively quiet. My only complaint would be the hose from the side water tank gets air bubbles quite often and you have to play with the line to get the eater flowing again. Not the best design.

For a home ice maker this is probably the best one I've seen and owned. Me and my wife love having the good ice available whenever we want it. The machine looks good and appears well built. Having the side water tank is super convenient, worth the extra money, and keeps us from having to refill it every day. I didn't give it a perfect score as there are a few things that could use improvement but overall I love the machine. My first complaint is it's a little loud when making ice. Second I wish the ice container was bigger. Third clearing the cleaning alert is very annoying and cumbersome. Forth I wish there was a slot or better place to store the scoop. The scoop itself could be better made, maybe metal instead of plastic. And last the tray on the front is just a flimsy piece of plastic that constantly has visible sitting water in it. Having a tray similar to what you would see on a Keurig would be better so the water has some where to go and isn't visible. A lot of these a nick picky but these are just my thoughts and what I'd like to see changed.

This is my second GE Opal 2 ice maker. The first the ex took lol. My experience with the first Opal was great so I decide to buy another. The Opal works great, and the ice taste great also. It's easy to setup. I love the fact that it use the same water as it melts. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a ice maker

My daughter purchased a previous model and took it with her when she moved out. I immediately purchased a replacement as I can't dream of living without this ice machine. Love the pellet ice texture, and ease of having almost unlimited ice on hand. I have recommended this product several times … a bit pricey but a staple in our household.
