Never have I been more pleased with an appliance purchase. The Opal ice maker was easy to set up and produces enough ice to easily sustain multiple water bottles and glasses being filled each day. It seems like within minutes of us closing the ice door with an empty bucket, it is filled again as soon as we turn around! The ice is delicious and does not dissolve quickly. My only advice is to make sure that when you drain the hoses, you do so next to sink. This process works much better than trying to empty into a bucket. Would absolutely recommend.

We love the ice machine. It creates the best little nuggets and we can't get enough! We are very happy with the machine and so glad we got it. My two complaints would be, as many others have commented, too - it requires regular cleaning/descaling (almost weekly) and defrosts without warning, which usually depletes the entire bin of ice. Those are not deal breakers, just sharing feedback.

After doing a ton of research, we decided to bite the bullet and splurge on this product. We based our decision on multiple reviews across many sites online. We wanted pure nugget ice not hollow bullet ice. And this machine is worth the investment. Our refrigerator's ice machine freezes over and is therefore unreliable. So this was just the thing we needed. Set up was a bit confusing, but we figured it out. And it can get quite noisy. So those are the only two "cons" to this machine.

I love the size of the ice cubes and the amount of ice it makes but the machine makes a weird noise and is kind of loud. I am not sure if the one I got is defective because I know a few people that have it and I have never heard theirs make these noises.

Out of the box the machine is great. Looks good in the kitchen and makes amazing ice. Very easy to set up connect WiFi and program a schedule using the app. Unfortunately, we are currently on our THIRD machine in about 5 years (we had the original opal initially and we were able to upgrade it under warranty from retailer when it died) and all have had the same issue. They get progressively noisier then suddenly start making horrible squealing sounds then eventually stop working. Quality is a major issue. Especially at this price point. We only ever use RO water, it was descaled on a fairly regular and was put through a full cleaning at least 4 times since being purchased in June 2023. Still - it started squealing and stopped making ice.

As an absolute fan of nugget ice we decided to get the 2.0 to replace our sadly broken first generation Opal. The improvements are great such as the side water tank and non leaking front drawer but it's still a pain to clean and takes up a ton of counter space but we will put up with it for that delicious nugget ice!

I bought this ice machine for my husband after the one in our fridge stopped working. I love this machine. It makes the cutest little ice, doesnt make barely any noise and for some magical reason this ice doesnt melt as fast? Anyway, i highly recommend, especially with the side tank if you drink alot of iced coffee, or water. I use filtered water from the atore because my well is hard and we used a gallon a week for ice.

I was worried about the filling up of the water and at melting and having it be on all the time. None of those were valid concerns. It works well as designed. The Wi-Fi capabilities could be better. It should be HomeKit enabled. We are loving the ice and are glad that it is located in our wet bar separate from our kitchen because we need a kitchen appliances to be quiet.

This ice maker is easy to operate, all you do is add water. The ice is chewable and awesome--not even sure if Sonic's ice is this good. You'll need to clean it on a regular schedule, especially if you're in an area with really hard water like I am. I got the side water tank, which makes this extremely hands-free. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is b/c its a little loud when making ice, but outside of that, its a great ice machine.

I have wanted a nugget ice maker and this is the perfect one if you aren’t wanting to spend thousands on an under cabinet one. Makes ice quick and keeps ice flowing so you never run out. Our friends and family love coming over so they can fill their cups up with it.
