I have had my unit for about a month. Ok first thing I noticed is that as it sits overnight and ice starts to melt it will not automatically restart on its own to fill up again. Yes with the app you can set it up to start at whatever time you want. But let’s say I schedule it to start back up at 7 am then it will start and fill back up but it will not restart again if I’ve level goes back down. Second dislike. Having water tank full of water it sometimes still runs out of water inside the machine like it’s out of water even though tank is full. I have to manually put water inside the unit so it can start making ice again. Then after that it will pull water from tank and keep making ice. Why it does this I don’t know. I have removed hose from back of tank and re installed then it starts pulling water. Like it gets air in the system. I never let it run out of water. At about halfway I refill so it doesn’t get air in system but it still does this. Not sure why. Also I only use distilled water so it will last longer due to high minerals in water. Other than that its great. I just feel it should restart on its own anytime ice level drops like a regular ice maker does. And it should not run out of water inside unit if tank is always kept full. Maybe a stronger pump.

We really wanted a small nugget ice maker and from looking at the size, look and specs, this one seemed exactly what we were looking for. The experience with it has been poor. On day 4, it pretty much stopped making ice and was continually going into "Defrosting" mode. After a full reset, it started to make nuggets again, but the ice making mechanism not occasionally makes just the loudest noise like someone is scratching done a pole, more often than not in the middle of the night (5 am). The remedy is to unplug it for a short while and then put the power back on, and it continues as it should.

It's so good to always have this type of ice on hand. It's great for my wife and myself. Makes additional ice rather quickly too! Would highly recommend as an excellent ice maker for your countertop. I like the way it recycles the water from melted ice.

Two factors really delayed our purchase of the GE Profile Opal nugget ice maker - shockingly high price, and - lower daily capacity than the standard countertop ice maker (24 lbs instead of the typical 26 lbs) HOWEVER, here is why the GE Profile Opal nugget ice maker is well worth it: #1 - in the last 5 years we've gone through at least 5 or 6 countertop ice makers. They are super difficult to clean. They either stopped working within a year or the internal plastics broke. The last one we had was so dirty we used bleach/water and it corroded the chrome plated parts that touch the water to make ice. In other words, we've spent almost as much in total as the price of the GE Profile Opal! #2 - although the standard ice makers make 26 lbs per day, the internal baskets are small (with just enough for maybe two cups-full of ice) and stop producing ice until you take some out of the basket. There are four of us at home and there was NEVER enough ice for all of us! With the GE Profile Opal, because it is nugget ice (small pieces) and the basket holds a lot of ice, we can easily fill up 5 or 6 cups completely full of ice and it makes more fairly quickly. 24 lbs per day all of the sudden seems more than adequate! #3 - the standard countertop ice makers are virtually impossible to clean. I've actually broken the plastics on at least two of those machines while cleaning and one of them stopped working after a cleaning. The GE Profile Opal is still a bit of work to clean as you have to drain water through the tube from the back, but it's much easier and better! #4 - nugget ice is just the BEST ice!!!! Sorry, I know that is a personal perspective but WE LOVE IT. A great day for us was going to Sonic and get a drink with nugget ice. Now we can do it at home!!! If the GE Profile Opal fails before at least 5 years, Frankly, I will be VERY upset but at this point we are super glad we purchased it. I do which is was a bit less expensive but if it last 5 years, it is very much worth it.

I love the product. This is my second one. The first lasted just one year but I had not cleaned it as often as recommended so I took ownership of that and just replaced it. This new one has been about 4 months and it has grinded and moaned and made terrible noises since it was about 2 months old. I clean it often but the loud noise is horrific

We've been using this machine for a few weeks now and are very pleased. It constantly makes ice and even when we use what's in the bin we have new ice in no time. I wasn't able to connect to the wifi, but it's no big deal. Definitely recommend this product

The ice maker was easy to setup, and updated the software, I really enjoy being able to control certain features via wifi, and I made my decision to buy this product as opposed to others base on YouTube rating, it is a bit pricy but after using it I think it worths the price

I bought this for my daughter who loves chewy ice! I saved for a couple of years to be able to afford it so I did my research! This was her Christmas present and it has made the entire family so happy! This machine is hard working and keeps the ice coming if it senses it’s getting low. The app capability to mange it is icing on the cake with my daughter she checks on it when she’s at school (LOL) via her phone! Don’t hesitate to purchase it’s an amazing little machine and now we have our own chewy ice no more trips to the gas station to get the bag of chewy ice! We love our opal! My daughter plans to take it with her to college next year!

I purchased this machine for our teachers and faculty for teachers appreciation week. Decided to give it to them early, so we can enjoy it the rest of the school year. They absolutely love it. Sonic ice is the best. I would definitely recommend this product.

We love the new ice maker. We use it everyday. The only negative is how loud it is. We live in a smaller house and we put it on the kitchen counter next to the refrigerator. The den is next to the kitchen. We have had to get used to the sound to watch TV.
