[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine is no lightweight. It carried like an air conditioner when I got it. It is smaller than an air conditioner but still takes up a substantial amount of counter space. Once I read the instructions, cleaned it, and filled it I have have nothing but good things to say about this machine. It make small ice pieces, a little bigger than your normal chopped ice, and it make ice quickly. The side reservoir is definitely needed because it will go through the water as you use the ice, but I feel it is better than getting an ice machine in the fridge just because of volume and convenience.

We are drinking more water because the ice is just that good. I have heard reviews that the ice maker is noisy, it's an ice maker and will produce some noise but it is a non issue for us. Produces a good amount and the 2.0 is certainly worth the extra cost; having new ice when we want it; on a schedule is a bonus.

I really didn't need to buy another one but my neighbor who is my daughter and my grandkids would come so much to buy ice. I recently moved, they were more sad about the ice machine than me moving, lol. So I gave her the old one and purchased a new one.

My wife is a big fan of “Sonic ice”. She has me stop by and purchase their ice whenever we have a party or family gathering. Now, we have this ice made right on our countertop! Our granddaughters love it and it's become a treat that they like to have whenever they come over. We talked about buying on of these for years and then we received on with the side reservoir as a Christmas present from our kids. It was the best Christmas present ever!!

This ice maker is beautifully designed and easy to install. It fits perfectly in a small corner in my kitchen and fits the kitchen nicely with its aesthetically pleasing sleek design. Once cleaned, installed, and connected it side tank, it took about 20 minutes for the small nuggets to dispense. Love the small nugget ice it makes.

My wife has always loved the "Sonic Ice" and we would buy bags of it wherever we could find it. So happy to have the ability to easily make this ice at home. The Opal 2.0 was super easy to set up and makes ice very quickly for our family. The ability to recycle the water when the ice melts in the container was a huge benefit over the competitive products I researched. So far, we are very happy. We did buy the optional water filter online after we purchased the ice maker. Water filter was very easy to install and makes the ice taste more "clean." We are super happy with the purchase.

The Opal 2.0 makes wonderful ice quickly and efficiently, but is prone to mechanical failure which cannot be avoided by simply frequent cleaning as instructed by the manual. Rather, users need to be told it must use only distilled water or the equivalent. Typical home drinking water filters won't prevent scale build up that will render the machine inoperable notwithstanding regular cleanings in less than a year. Once the scale has accumulated the only remedy is to disassemble the unit and clean all internal parts that handle water with vinegar by direct application.

I was abit skeptical about the expected volume it should make since we had to replace the first one we ordered earlier in the month, but the replacement works great. It took 3 hours to fill the bin the first time, and runs only short periods of time to maintain based on usage there after

Love the machine, it makes great ice. I am a little worried about the longevity of the machine though. I had the first GE Opal and it worked great for 9 months and then just died for no reason. Hopefully the 2.0 will last much longer. The machine makes a noise at least once a day that sounds like a creaky door opening slowly in an old house. Other than that I've had no issues since I put it in service a month ago. I will say the buttons on the 2.0 operate much better than the single button did on the original machine.

I have wanted a nugget ice maker and this is the perfect one if you aren't wanting to spend thousands on an under cabinet one. Makes ice quick and keeps ice flowing so you never run out. Our friends and family love coming over so they can fill their cups up with it.
