The machine itself works great and makes ice quickly. It is noisy during the ice making cycle and the defrosting cycle but it's not too terribly bothersome. While I have loved the machine the customer support/service has left us with much to be desired. We purchased the ice maker with the side tank. Within a week of purchase the tank separates after it has been filled with water while placing the tank on the base - water goes everywhere. After many difficult phone calls and emails with descriptions of the problem I still don't have a side tank. The service department would like me to purchase a new one! The tank was 10 days old when the problem started. So, as long as the machine continues to work it's great - just hope you don't have to deal with their service department as the are useless and worthless.

I was a little unsure which way to go with a countertop ice machine. There are several options. After reading about as many as I could find and features of them, I went with the Opal. I actually went with the appearance initially. I did not want something on the countertop that was unattractive. The Opal is so beautiful. As far as the practical side of things, the Opal makes wonderful ice, it's easy to set up, operate and maintain I can't say enough nice things about it. Omg I love this machine soooooo much! My entire family enjoys it...when I allow it LOL. This was the absolute best purchase I've made in a while. Being able to start my ice maker before I even leave work has been a big help and I love it more and more each day.

So far I am enjoying said product. GE is the epitome of American innovation. The Opal Nugget 2.0 ice maker product supported my little get together with ice to spare. I am happy because the wife is happy. Ice cold cocktails shaken and stirred. God Bless GE, God Bless America 🇺🇸!

I love my Opal ice maker I did have the one with the side tank. It is by far the best ice you will use in your Cocktails! Very important reminder to clean the machine regularly… it will start squeaking if you let the calcium build up! I did use super filtered water and. Lean it out monthly!

I've had the opal 2 for about a month and I can say that I love the quality of the ice it makes. It's quiet and has a sleek look that fits great with my kitchen. Some cons would be the price and the cleaning procedures but if you have the time and money this shouldn't be a problem!

My wife is all about the nugget ice. And not having to go out to a restaurant to get some and stock up is very nice. Having it at our beck and call when we want ice we have it. Very nice addition to the kitchen and everyday routine. I have had to clean it a few times already after only having it just over a month. But I assume that is due to the water that we are using verses any actual fault of the ice maker. It is worth the money if your family is always wanting cool drinks or bags of ice for sore muscles

Although setup is a bit involved, knowing that it assures clean & safe ice makes it worth the effort. We use distilled water since our well water is very hard & the resulting ice is great!!! Hoping that it continues to operate at this level for a long time. The app is helpful but not a lot of features - but there really isn’t much to operate. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love the ice but the machine makes some very loud noises. I previously owned another ice maker at a much lower price point that failed after 1 year so I upgraded to this machine but for the price I’m surprised at how loud it is. Especially because I bought the 2.0.

I’ve been wanting one of these portable ice machines for years. I did my due diligence with my research and this is the one that topped most. The machine is very quiet and makes the perfect chewable ice that I crave. I look forward to come home from working outside in Southwest Florida to enjoy a big cup of the ice everyday. It’s probably the best purchase I’ve made in years. I highly recommend this ice maker. You won’t be disappointed.
