Nugget ice is a cruel mistress but Opal makes it possible to have everything you need right at home. No more late night trips to sonic, or running around town looking for the beloved ice. I had the original but she quit on me, it was due to my own misgivings. The harsh water of central California could be to blame as well, but I could have tried harder. I swore when I replaced her with 2.0 that I would do everything I could to ensure a long life. Just ordered a five pack of filters and cleaning kits and the distilled water is on the way. Nugget ice is important in our house to restore peace and good function. Opal make that possible. Just treat her good and you'll hear the low hum of her pump from across the house like clock-work.Or you can even set a schedule using the app, as well as check on what stage of ice making shes in. 10 out of 10. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It doesn't seem to matter how great your ice maker is in your fridge because most people love ice and there's never enough. With this ice maker it's not a problem. It's also nice that it's portable so that it can be moved around for parties and events. It works fast and quiet and looks great on the counter. The ice is perfect size & texture.

This is absolutely the best ice nugget machine out there. I have used several different ones in the past but this is the Cadillac of them all. Must say don't use the generic water filters. They will not work. Use only the G E ones. The others didn't let the water flow correctly. Kept telling me to add water.

Unfortunately we have to return this ice maker. It has a squeal that is so loud it can be heat throughout our home. Customer service didn't provide any answers. The sound is from a brand new unit and has been doing from day 1. Will be looking for another solution.

Love having the crushed ice whenever! Keeps up better than our refrigerator ice maker. Sets on the kitchen counter.Slides under cabinet & doors still have plenty of opening access. We have the side water container which I would highly recommend. Only have to fill about every other day. Only complaint is the shrill squeal when in defrost mode. Any remedy for this would be greatly appreciated!

Every time I had more than two people in the house, I found myself asking someone to bring ice. Finally, I decided to get this ice machine. Though I plan to have electricity added in my pantry this summer so I don't have to have the machine on the kitchen counter, for now we are using it on the counter. We love the ease of maintaining is and we love the ice.

This is a great ice maker. We use it daily so the extra tank is helpful. Only downside is the ice doesn't stay frozen. It melts and the water recycles. So the bottom ice is 1/2 melted and harder. So the best ice is on top. For the price it would have been nice if it kept the ice frozen. Don't regret buying. Easy set up. Fits easily on counter and is beautiful.

This was a replacement ice maker for us from another manufacturer. This ice maker is SO much quieter and produces much better quality ice! My wife loves this type of ice for all of her drinks and it works great to put in ice packs for those occasional sore muscles.

Huge fan of nugget ice and this unit satisfies the craving! Didn't think I would find myself using this as much as I currently am (with almost every beverage, daily), but we've had this for one month and the novelty does not wear off. We have this set up in our kitchen for now and it takes up a lot of counter space, but it is worth it. Some other reviews also comment on the sound while making ice - I don't find it distracting or overly noisy. Overall, excellent product!

The product works amazing. We did have an issue with the unit making very loud squealing noise constantly but GE sent us a new unit after speaking with customer service. We love the nugget ice so much that my parents and sister's now both have a GE Profile Opal 2.0 ice maker
