We bought an original Opal ice maker, and it served us well. When it finally died, we upgraded to the Profile. The large tank on the side makes it so much easier, and scheduling the making of ice with my phone is a real plus. We still have plenty of ice the next morning when it starts up. We love this ice maker!!

It never occurred to me to get one of these until I purchased one for my office. I liked it so much, I got one for home. Absolutely love it. Wish I had not waited. The only thing I would caution about is that it does make noise. So would not want it on the countertop of our kitchen which is part of a large open floor plan with the living room.

This ice maker is a great appliance however, the cleaning and descaling process needs to be scaled back. That is a workout in itself. I use bottled purified water and it asked to descale once after ONE week of use! I had to buy a lot of vinegar, too. And, linking to the app was easy. I can turn the ice maker on/off from my bedroom or schedule the ice making time.

I just installed this ice maker a few days ago, but so far I am very pleased with it. Installation was very easy. It only took a short time to fill with ice. It doesn't take up much counter space and it looks very nice sitting on my counter top. I was hesitant to order it, but so glad I did.

This little dynamo is nothing short of amazing! It's a powerhouse that starts dumping is faster than you can make the beverage to pour over it! In a short period of time, you have a full bin of ice. We transfer over to ziploc bags to keep in the freezer on the ready. It dumps a good bit of heat but odd enough, the ice in the bin stays cold even when the indoor temp is not optimal either.

This ice maker was a Christmas gift from my parents. Even though the complex I live in at the moment has an ice machine down the hall, they know how much I love the ‘good ice' since I'll be moving to Mississippi Gulf Coast in the summer. The only thing is it shows there to be a tray that comes with it — there wasn't one in the box when I opened it :( I put a tray under it but it's not the right size for the side kick reservoir to fit where it should go.

IT COMPLETELY HANDLES ALL OF THE ICE CONSUMPTION NEEDS WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF A WATER HOOKUP WHEN PURCHASED WITH WATER RESERVOIR-ELIMINATES REFRIGERATOR ICE MAKERS WHICH NEVER WORK AS EXPECTED AND ADDS A CONVERSATION PIECE TO THE KITCHEN THAT HAS EVERYTHING.

Not only does this appliance look great, it works great as well. This makes the perfect ice to satisfy all your drinking needs. It's easy to use and install. Comes with an excellent user guide, which provides good clear instructions for everything. It's quite attractive with the clear plastic and brushed stainless steel, it fits right in with all my other appliances. It's much quieter than expected with just barely an audible hum during operation. This is a rather large (and heavy) ice maker but it fit perfectly fine underneath my cabinets. This unit is not refrigerated, so as ice collects into the bin it will slowly melt, however the water gets recycled back into the machine and will be reused to make more ice. My only complaint is how long it takes to complete an ice making cycle, it takes literally hours for it to fill the bin with ice. Not a big issue but you definitely need to plan ahead if you're going to need ice, however if you dump the ice into a bag occasionally and freeze it you'll always have ice on-hand.

I purchased this Opal after receiving an older gen model for my birthday and having nothing but problems with it. Immediately I could tell that the GE product team made significant efforts to address customer pain points. It's quieter, doesn't take in as much dust on the vents, and the app tells you when your machine needs to be descaled. You don't have to listen to the awful screeching and try and diagnose the issue on YouTube. I've come to realize my water is still hard due to the salt we use in our softening system and Opal will need to be descaled every few weeks. But at least now I know!

This is such a luxury purchase, but it makes me happy every morning! I love having iced coffee and having the machine programmed to have nugget ice ready and waiting for me when I get up just starts my day off on a positive note. I've had the machine for 6 months now and have only had to run a clean cycle once, which I credit to only using distilled water. Overall I am so happy with my purchase :D
