We love the ices produced. It's amazing It does run all the time. When you use ice it will turn on but before it can replenish fully it puts itself in to some kind of defrosting cycle melting half the progress it made. Then it will resume making ice only to get almost full then need to defrost again... it's not a huge deal and I have never came up to it and not been able to fill my cup. But I could see it struggling to keep up in a high usage situation. It make a low rumble sound in operation and sometimes squeaks while compressing the ice. On occasion when I wake up in the morning it will be half empty and I need to open and close the door to get it started. I would not purchase this item without the side tank... I feel like you would be having to constantly open the door and check the level. Also fill it quite frequently without the side tank. As long as you know all the above you will love this machine like we do

Love how quickly the product arrived, the ease of unboxing and set up. I completed it on my own and I don't consider myself abnormally strong. I am 48 and had it up and running in under 2 hours. That's running extra cleaning cycle and reading through the manual. Highly recommend.

So far so good but have only had for about three weeks. I love the ice it makes but I'm a little worried about how some people say it will only last a few months or a year or two at the most. I should've gotten an extended warranty. But I'm only using distilled water and I plan to sanitize it next week for the first time after the initial cleaning. My purchase included the side tank but I found, so far, that I did not really need it although it worked perfectly, however, l'm glad I have it and may reattach it eventually. I like the looks of the machine but it is a little loud but it doesn't run all the time. Our kitchen and living room and dining room are all in one big room so the low hum can be noticeable at times.

this was giving to me as a gift and i could not wait to get it up and running. i absolutely love ice in all my drinks lots of ice. the set up look like a bunch of stuff but was really very easy started making ice as it said and within 30 min had my first glass of wonderful ice water. have been wanting one of these machines and i could not be happier. it's very quiet really don't even know it's running. cats have enjoyed checking it out when the ice falls. very very pleased. a lil pricey but will highly recommend this to everyone

We previously had a Kitchenaid Ice Maker that was incredibly inferior. The GE profile Opal Ice Maker is far superior, external tank easy to use, and the water filter is exceptional. The ice is perfect and supplements the fridge ice maker. I would recommend to anyone

Installation was simple. Capacity of the ice bin is good and having the side tank is a lifesaver, I'm glad that I opted for that as well. The noise level is medium, I wish it was quieter, but it's tolerable for the benefit of having nugget ice. The cleaning requirements is a bit cumbersome, at least the descaling process. It requires a good 24 hours to devote to it and that's a lot of time investment for something that is not a pet or a child. I've only been using filtered water, yet the buildup is Much higher than I would've expected from using filtered water. It would be really nice to have a option to connect a filter somewhere along the hose line that goes from the side tank reservoir, leading into the icemaker that the customer could purchase the specific type of descaling and filtering type filter needed for their specific area and water hardness so that you could simply just use tapwater, and it would be filtered and processed properly before entering icemaker, thus protecting all the components inside of the icemaker. When I unplugged it to do the cleaning and scaling process for the first time, I noticed there was white substances leaking through the metal seams at/near the front of the machine. This is a bit concerning to me, as I can't tell if it's coolant leakage OR some type of acid or what is coming out there. I love the way. It is working so far in the ice production, I'm a little bit nervous about spending this much money and having it leaking stuff out of the “seams” this early in its life. I'm also not thrilled with having to be cleaning and descaling every 2 to 3 weeks and would've hoped for a better process for an appliance of this high dollar amount and what I perceive as top of the line equipment.

I received my opal2.0 and set up per the instructions. The ice maker worked decently for about 5 days and then would stop because the add water light would come on even though the side tank was full. I completed the recommended troubleshooting for that issue with no success. Continuing to add water after a cycle. The machine began to squeal louder and louder when making ice after the 5th day is use. I really wished this worked better because I liked the look and ice. Not worth the price in my opinion. Also shipped and came dented.

We are enjoying our ice maker so much. We use it every day! The ice is a great size and texture and so enjoyable. The machine iefficiently makes new ice, so the bin is always full and ready for use. The size of the ice maker is also convenient as we are using it on our counter top and it fits under the cabinets.

Overall this thing is awesome. Ice chunks are perfect size, they don't melt too quickly and totally chewable. It makes ice quickly too. Expensive but I eat ice and was using like crushed ice from my fridge. The filter is a bonus. Ice tastes totally neutral.
