I've had this unit for nearly a month. It makes ice quickly. I love the look. Can be just a bit noisy but it's not constant. Took off the side reservoir to save counter space. Side tank had a tendency to leak or drip water while refilling. It's just too easy to refill the main reservoir. Over all, I'd still purchase this unit. Hoping it lasts!

Quieter than the original. This is my 3rd unit. I originally had the 1st build indegogo pre purchase. This seems quieter. My most recent opal lasted 2 years with reverse osmosis water. Going to be better about descaling this one. Hopefully it will last longer. The last one got very noisy in the end.

I have been using this GE Opal 2.0 portable ice maker regularly and I'm impressed with the machine so far. It performs very well and doesn't make loud noise while making ice. It also fits well under the cabinet. I like the design, it's simple and elegant. The blue light makes it looks cool and beautiful to watch. The quality of the ice is great, it's crispy and chewable. It doesn't take long time to make ice. I can leave the ice in the machine. The side tank is helpful and easy to fill water. I think the price is a bit expensive. this machine can be operated through wifi via SmartHQ app. But the app occasionally shows OFF status even though my machine is still on and making ice. Might need some update on the application in the future. Overall I do like this ice maker machine.

We had the 1st Build Opal ice maker for over 7 years. It started being a little finicky - ice not staying frozen. Everyone loved our ice machine so we instantly started looking to replace it. We were directed to the GE Opal 2.0. Set up this morning and already have a full tray of ice!! So excited for the side tank reservoir. We anticipate not having to fill with water every day!

My wife loves this thing. If she could dump me for this thing she would. She trenderly feeds it filtered water and then consumes ice water all day every day. I set it up in the app to create ICE in the morning before she wakes up and to turn off at night. The only time I find it empty is when we have guests over. Installation was super simple. It takes up a ton of space on the countertop but it is well worth the sacrifice. One thing to note is that if it runs extremely low on water it can make enough noise to be distracting.

It never occurred to me to get one of these until I purchased one for my office. I liked it so much, I got one for home. Absolutely love it. Wish I had not waited. The only thing I would caution about is that it does make noise. So would not want it on the countertop of our kitchen which is part of a large open floor plan with the living room.

Our fridge doesn't have an ice maker in our apartment. And with my wife being pregnant in the middle of summer she needed ice cold drinks to get her through it. We got this and she couldn't be happier always having the nugget ice to to chew while she enjoys her lemonade.

I bought this for my 66 room hotel - simply for our cold brew coffee station on the breakfast bar. I thought this would be an upgrade compared to just having an ice bucket next to the iced coffee station. My main concern when I purchased the unit was if it would be able to keep up with a busy morning of guests wanting ice for their cold brew coffee or other drinks. I was pleased to discover that it has met my needs and always remains full! We refill the side tank daily - it uses the whole thing each day. My housekeepers also like to come and get a cup of crunchy nugget ice while they are working. Everyone is happy here! I think if a 66 room hotel can keep up with the needs of the staff and guests, then this would be fine for any household! My purchase decision also is based upon our hotel's history with GE. All 66 rooms have GE appliances (fridge & microwave), they have all been very reliable and easy to service when needed. This is not a paid review.

Great icemaker. Produces nugget ice quickly. The only thing that may be of concern is that it is a little noisy when it is making the ice. It is not intermittent, it is pretty constant for a couple hours until all the ice is made then again when the ice is low. If this is in your basement bar that is not much of an issue. Probably something you want to use for parties and intermittent use since it does run quit a bit as the ice melts and new ice is made and the ice is not cooled in any matter.

I love the ice for my drinks and for my reusable ice packs. The system itself is bigger than I had imagined but is quiet and does an awesome job! I highly recommend purchasing the model with the extra water tank on the side because if you use a lot of ice like we do in my household it just saves you so much time from having to constantly refil the water. The price is steep but worth it if you are an ice connoisseur!
