Three opal ice maker is a perfect addition to our kitchen. This machine churns out more than enough for our family of 5 who all love the soft ice. We're added the side tank and are working on a modification to connect directly to water supply. That is the only drawback of the machine. It should at least be an option to connect to a water supply.

The icemaker was easy to set up. It keeps ice cold, which was the key issue we had with a competing brand. The ice tastes great. I use bottled water to not have to deal with cleaning as often. I have not cleaned the unit yet. So I have not comments on that process. It has acted like it was in the cleaning process and it stayed stuck in that. I had to unplug the unit to get it out of this setting. So I have a small level of concern about the unite. This is the only reason I have given it a good rating. Otherwise, it would be excellent. We are very happy with the product at the moment.

This is my third opal ice maker. I love these things! They typically have a set lifespan around 2-4 years in my experience. Regardless, these machines make the best ice! Recommend using distilled water to increase its life expectancy and to ensure cleaning of the machine is completed regularly. Makes enough ice for a family of 8. Easy set up and install. Fits perfectly under our kitchen cabinets. Runs quietly.

Probably due to condensation, every time you get ice and open the door, water spills out. I'm going to look into their new ice dispensing opal to see if this would be better. The cost of these machines are more than a cheap full size refrigerator, I expect them not to have annoying issues

The Opal ice maker is a must have if you have a huge family who loves ice! It makes a load of ice in no time and recycles the melted ice water so your machine always has ice. It also has an app which you can use to monitor your ice maker. A great buy!

Overall the ice machine does what it is designed to do. Quantify is sufficient for a family of four. Refills quickly as well. Would be better with ability to filter the water and add a water line versus filling the reservoir. Received ours with damage. Replacement options not easy, opted to keep. Overall a good product that makes good ice. Price is a little high. Consider it a luxury item.

My family loves this ice maker. We finished our basement and put in a wet bar, this was a must have. Very convenient having the app, can tell it to start making ice prior to needing it. You can set up schedules when it makes ice etc. It's nice having the side water tank, it can make a lot of ice. My kids are drinking a lot more water, just because they like eating the ice. This thing is a hit! It has a cleaning mode and the app recommends when to clean. I've descaled it a few times just like I do my coffee makers. Nothing too difficult and there's plenty YouTube videos.

We've had four countertop ice makers. The first three died within six months and produced very small amounts of ice. The Opal is fantastic. Copious amounts of ice, very quickly. Ice stays frozen in the bin for days. Refillable reservoir is convenient and so easy.

The ice maker works fairly well. Occasionally, it will produced some ice similar to shaved ice, but produces perfect nuggets otherwise. The water basin is not the easiest to fill. The ice bin must be completely removed, and needs a plate or pan to rest to prevent water from the bottom getting on the counter, and to prevent contamination (water drains from bottom of bin back into basin). Bin area is poorly insulated, so ice continually melts and is remade. The is no refrigeration on the bin, unit only runs while making ice. When ice making starts, it pours water over the existing ice more a few minutes until the tubes freeze and start forming the nuggets. Cleaning is a little involved, but not terrible all things considered, especially if installed with a foot or so of a sink. Overall, it is a decent product, but for the price I would expect a little more than the basic design described above.

Due to the fact that everyone prefers the soft nugget ice; We unashamedly now have two of the Opal's in our home kitchen… solid units two things that I am comment and or question?? Is 1) how do you install the included nylon block that I assume is a holding area/unit for the provided plastic scoop? 2) perhaps a some sort of testing strips should be included so you will know you own water quality for scaling and hardness… really ia a great machine and appreciate that the led lighting has a switch…
