This ice maker has saved us a lot of money since we received it as a gift from our kids as we no longer have to buy bags of ice. The ice from our refrigerator has a funny taste to it so we don't use it. Also, I like to chew ice so these nuggets are perfect. We keep several bags made ahead of family events at our house so we always have plenty for everyone.

I have always chewed on ice, but ice has not been easy on my teeth. I have been watching this product for a while, and finally decided to purchase one. Hands down, this is one of my favorite purchases during the COVID lockdown! The ice is soft and chewable, and the ice bin fills up quick when you empty it. My only regret is not buying this earlier!

This is my third opal machine. I was given a replacement of my second machine and not even 10 months later it is already making the same loud obnoxious noise as the first machine. The ice is good when it's actually working, but the noise is beyond obnoxious and loud, and I've had to just shut it off and not use it. I was told there is no repair for this which is very unfortunate considering how much I have paid for these machines. I was also told there is no warranty on the last one they sent me even though it hasn't even even been a year, because I originally purchased my first one two years ago. This makes no sense considering we're talking about a completely different newer ice machine!! No protection for the buyer

We love the ice this little machine produces. It does not happen at rocket speed but it has managed to keep up with my household of four (two adults and two kids) and other visiting friends. It's compact and fits nicely on the countertop. My only complaint is that our machine is loud. It may be just this particular one or all of them I don't know. But definitely recommend it.

The ice maker makes awesome nugget ice, and does so fairly quickly, to use as drinking ice for our family of 5. It's pretty loud and the defrost cycle runs quite often though. On top of that we regularly have had ice come in the consistency of shaved ice, which the kids love but is quite annoying when you're expecting pellets. Overall we like it, but wonder at times if our specific unit is a dud due to the shaved ice situation.

Unfortunately we have to return this ice maker. It has a squeal that is so loud it can be heat throughout our home. Customer service didn't provide any answers. The sound is from a brand new unit and has been doing from day 1. Will be looking for another solution.

I loved this machine in the beginning. I clean it and descale it regularly. However after 18 months it wont stop making a screeching noise. I have purchased descalers, water filters, all of the recommended products and it wont stop making noise. GE needs to build this better and make it more cleaning friendly or provide a better warranty

This thing is really amazing. You have to make sure you follow cleaning instructions and make sure you clean the fan and it will last forever. I really wish it had a hard plumb option without having to modify the side tank. I really hope GE gets that in the works!

I love this machine. Quick to make. Easy to use and install. It always makes more than enough so i bag it up and when we have luncheons at work i bring a few gallon bags into work and everyone goes crazy for it because it is "chewy ice". Honestly i can say this is one of the best buys i have done recently.

I bought this nugget ice maker as a gift for my 5yo daughter's birthday since she loves ice so much (haha). It's gorgeous, sleek, and fits perfectly under my cabinets in our small butler's pantry area where we store all of our coffee/beverage gadgets. Set up and initial cleaning were a breeze. Although a little lengthy, it was easy and necessary. I'm 5'3” and was able to lift the machine to the sink and back. I read previous reviews of the older version being loud but this one wasn't at all. I'd compare the soft hum to a quieter version of the dishwasher running in the background. Ice started to form in about 15-20 minutes and the bin continuously became full with the best ice ever. When you turn the machine off. Ice melts back into the reservoir below the bin. Water is formed from that bottom reservoir as well as the side tank which is easily filled and can be place to the left or right of the machine. Everyone that has come over has gotten ice in amazement and I've already convinced 2 friends to get their own. I recommend this to everyone and only wish I had gotten it sooner!
