This ice maker uses less water than the previous model. The storage bin stays cold and does not lose ice due to melting. It only needs cleaning every other week instead of every week. It is fast and the ice is soft to chew!  I highly recommend this product. 

I bought this about a month ago because I was tired of buying bags of ice from the grocery store. I wasn't sure how good this icemaker really would be, but I am pleasantly surprised! It has surpassed my expectations, and I highly recommend this! The small nugget ice is wonderful. And this machine is a little workhorse! I use it daily and absolutely love it.

We've had our ice maker for a few weeks now, and we love it so far. Makes plenty of ice for us every day, and love that it's easy to clean. It does take up a bit of counter space, but it's so worth it. The nugget ice is perfect, and just like that popular fast food chain ice!

This is the best countertop I've maker on the market. Makes perfect ice every time. This is my third unit. I bought the prototype before they were on the market and replaced it with a newer 2.0. That one started having a small leak I can't pinpoint so I had to replace it. Trying to get repairs on these is pointless. It will cost as much to fix it as buying a new one because you have to send them in to GE. You have to ensure you stay on top of the cleaning but other than that they are great.

The Opal 2.0 is a real investment—a bit expensive, somewhat heavy, and requiring frequent cleaning—but we think it's completely worth it! GE is telling the truth when they say, “This is the good ice!” The whole family loves the soft, crunchable ice nuggets—as do our guests. We highly recommend the 2.0 model—quieter, easier to use, and seems more reliable.

I really love this icemaker. I wish it wasn't quite so expensive, but I'm definitely getting my moneys worth. My unit has been very quiet, some people have complained about loud noise. I feel like if that's happening you need to have it serviced! Using the app to set daily times for one to have my eyes begin has been very helpful instead of just having it run 24/7. I wish somehow it could go a little longer between cleaning cycles, but I'm willing to do what is necessary to keep this wonderful and expensive device running smoothly.

I was hesitant to spend the $$$ after reading so many bad reviews. I've only had it for a week but so far I love it. Cleaning it is easy, I do not think it's too loud, and the nuggets are perfect! It is aesthetically pleasing and it's been a huge hit at the house. Everyone wants the ice now!

The quality of the machine is excellent. It makes the good eating ice pellets. Everything works as advertised with no big surprises. There are some things that I've noticed over time that could use improvement. The noise is a little annoying when the machine is running. The cleaning and sanitation procedure is time consuming. The weight of the machine makes cleaning a chore sometimes. Some upgrade toward convenience of use would help justify the price.

I had the original Opal and it unfortunately but the dust after several years of everyday use. The family loves the ice so much we immediately went out and purchased the Opal 2.0 and we couldn't be happier. Some very nice updates to the ice bin itself (stopper for the bin when you pull it out) and the additional buttons/notifications are great along with the 3 lighting options. You've got a fam for life!

I love this ice maker. My sons a builder and he has two of these in his home. The texture of the ice is great for anyone who loves eating the ice as they drink. Easy to eat, crunchy, tiny ice. The whole family loves it. I'm thinking about getting one for my office.
