This ice maker is a great appliance however, the cleaning and descaling process needs to be scaled back. That is a workout in itself. I use bottled purified water and it asked to descale once after ONE week of use! I had to buy a lot of vinegar, too. And, linking to the app was easy. I can turn the ice maker on/off from my bedroom or schedule the ice making time.

The picture shows it having ice full to the brim but it actually doesn't keep the ice cold enough to not melt so the bottom melts out as the top condignly refills. what happens because the ice melts is it creates more of a ramp of ice running from the bottom of the where you see it to the spout at the top back where the ice comes out and then it stops making ice because the ice ramp is blocking the spout even thought the bucket isn't full. Even if you pull the bin out and shake it often I can never get the bucket to completely fill up like they have shown.

"The good ice" all day, all the time. Our ice maker went out in our refrigerator and the model we have is notorious for faulty ice makers. Instead of having them out to replace every 3 months, we opted to bite the bullet for some good ice. Best appliance decision ever! If enough of these get purchased, Sonic could go out of business.

After thinking about this purchase over 3 years, I finally convinced myself to purchase the latest GE Profile ice maker. As expected, the ice is perfect...soft, chewable, and strangely satisfying. The operation is very simple. At this time I am still having to elevate the side tank 1.25 inches in order to get it to provide water to the main unit. I have performed all of the obvious steps to remove air bubbles etc. but do have this minor issue. I am not sure about the value of the wifi. To me it does not add anything and does not stay connected anyway even though I do have a very strong wifi signal throughout my property. Overall I am very glad that I made this purchase.

Makes great ice. I would consider the ice maker considerably noisy! It sits in our kitchen and I often mistake the Opal noise to my dishwasher running. Considering relocating to the utility room, which is a pain in the backside. Don't let the hose crimp at all or it will inhibit water supply. Would be nice if you could connect the Opal to a water line instead of having to repeatedly filling the water reservoir. And I am having issues connecting to wifi for app utilization.

Haven't drank this much water in my entire life! Just having this ice maker at my disposal has made every difference in wanting to drink water. Love having our neighbors wanting to have their kids come over to swim at our pool cause we have “the good ice”. Machine is a little loud when it's making ice, but nothing terrible. Setup was slightly tricky and time consuming but ok….totally worth it!

We love it so far! Makes great ice and faster than expected! Only complaint is the instructions for setup- did a bunch of ge summer interns who came back from a work happy hour hammered write them? They made zero sense. I threw them out and it was much easier from there

This ice machine was great for just under a year. Now I have had it for just over 2 years. It is very noisy at times, wake you up from deep sleep noisy. Requires a lot of care and cleaning to keep it working properly. Manual says Descale every 2-3 weeks, Sanitize once a week. I am doing both once a week. This is at least 4 hours of labor plus the 18 hour soak time.

I purchased an OPAL 2 after using the original OPAL for 2 years. Unfortunately this Opal 2 has broken down and due to the info I am reading about the lack of customer service I have little hope of getting it replaced. I just can't afford another one to hope it will last.

So far it has been flawless. There is a bit more maintenance such as cleaning once a week. It's not hard at all once you get it down. Takes about 20 min to complete. Produces perfect ice and fairly quick. I would buy another in heartbeat. It is a bit pricy but if it last a long time like the other profile series I've had I'm good.
