I have had this product since February as a birthday gift from my husband. I have had nothing but issues with it!! I only use bottles of distilled water in the machine, yet, after a couple of days, the cleaning indicator comes on. So I have to take the entire thing apart and clean everything. I've even performed a deep clean using vinegar. Yet, within days the cleaning indicator comes on and stays on for days. It's very frustrating and we are probably going to sell it.

After our ice maker began to freeze up constantly we began to look for a separate on counter ice maker. The GE Profile met all of our check marks and makes the best ice. It was easy to set up and begin running. For anyone who loves good ice, this is the product for you. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

This my second Opal. The first one worked reliably every day for about 4 1/2 years. Then the ice bin indicator started indicating full bin right after it was turned on and refused to produce any ice. I went back and forth with tech support and tried every possible way to clean the machine and the sensors but to no avail. I'm sure if the ice bin sensors could be cleaned it would continue to produce ice. But rather than waste any more time on it, I went ahead and got a new ice maker. So amortize the cost of the machine over daily usage for 4 1/2 years. Not sure what the per day operating cost is after figuring in water and electricity. But it was worth it. LOVE. THIS. ICE!!!

Purchased the GE Opal Ice Maker 2.0 in December of 2022 (three months in as of this writing) and had problems from the first week. I was only using tap water, and so the scaling would cause the loudest squealing (neighbors could hear it) when defrosting (1-2 times daily). I purchased the GE water filtration system, but the design wouldn't allow enough water to get through causing a “Add Water” error. I was doing a clean cycle once a week and the maintenance was driving me crazy, to the point I almost took it back. Finally did a deep descaling with vinegar and started purchasing Distilled Water, and now it runs beautifully. So overall, a great working unit, but be prepared to have to purchase Distilled (not filtered) water to get the best no-hassle performance (1-2 gallons per week for a two person household).

Love this machine so much! Ice is soft but crunchy and it makes a bunch. What a great way to help us stay hydrated. Makes everything taste better. Really! The only thing that I wish could be fixed is the drip from the ice bin when you open it. It drips on the tray provided and is an easy wipe up, but it seems like there should be an easy fix.

I love my GE Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker! It's been in constant use since the first batch!! It fits perfectly on my counter and was so easy to set up!. I purchased the model with a side tank for a little extra on the purchase price and I'm so glad I did!! The Opal produces ice quickly and it's mess-free!! Who doesn't love that “good ice?”

This little ice machine is worth every penny I paid for it. It makes ice that's just like those fast food places that's the soft ice nuggets and it doesn't take it long at all to fill the container up. I've had mine since 10/1/23 and it has continuiously supplied me with ice all day and night. It's so easy to use and it's the best product I've bought in a long time. Never disappoints.

This was the BEST addition to our new kitchen remodel. Bought it for my husband as a Christmas gift. It is sleek and an eye catcher. The set up was so easy. Much quieter than I read on online reviews. Ice is spectacular. A great addition to any kitchen and home bar.

I purchased this product for my Wife as a 10 year Anniversary Gift. She is obsessed with crushed iced and would frequently visit various stores that carried this particular ice. She is absolutely in love with the wireless feature and has used it everyday. The product is very efficient and produces consistent quality ice. My only suggestion would be to add a complementary water filter with the product given the cost of the ice maker. Beside that.. I'm extremely happy with the results and my Wife is truly a satisfied customer!!

In general I love this machine, I find it's noise level acceptable, and love the quality of the ice. The main cons are the price, and how cleaning requires me to move the machine around to access the drain hoses. That said I used to barely use ice in my drinks and I bought this for a crushed ice replacement in cocktails. Now I use ice in nearly every cold drink I have at home. There are now other nugget ice makers out there for less expense, but this one is really much better build quality.
