We love our ice maker however one week into use it has made these horrible screeching sounds. I have performed the cleaning cycle and also started a weekly routing but this definitely has been cumbersome just the maintenance alone. Without the sound and all the maintenance this would easily be a 5 star rating.

My family loves crushed ice and this works like a charm. I agree with the previous reviews that the machine is a bit on the noisy side but it sits in our kitchen and we don't hear it in any other rooms. Also, we only use distilled water in the hopes of avoiding any maintenance issues, and it isn't always readily available. That said, my gang is thrilled with the ice that this puppy puts out. Worth the hassle.

The device was really easy to set up and get started. Once you clean it out, you will have ice within an hour. Family has been very happy with this appliance and we would definitely recommend it. We like that it recycles the water from the melted ice so you won't fill it as often if you are not using it much. The app that you can use to monitor it isn't too difficult to setup.

After reviewing several products i decided to go with this one and i don't regret it one bit. It's delivery is constant and fast it tells you when water is needed to be added and it even connects with your phone with an app that tells you when and what maintenance is required. A must buy.

Terrific ice maker! Love the WiFi feature that connects easily to my phone. If you buy it, you definitely need to purchase the one with the extra water tank though. The ice is crunchy yet soft at the same time. Price is reasonable and hope that it lasts long.

Several friends have the Opal Nugget Ice Maker & I could not get enough. I wanted one for my RV but it needed to be free of a water line for travel. Opal fit the bill. I removed my old RV fridge, bought a dorm fridge & built a shelf to hold the Opal. When she arrived she fit like a glove. Incredibly happy with this purchase!

Easy install and pre-cleaning, using only distilled water to cut down on maintenance and issues around minerals in the water. Produces ice quickly and there's nothing like the great, pellet ice for drinks. We freeze left overs from the weekend and use it all week. Hooked it up to wifi, so we can start it up an hour before we need it, from anywhere. Very convenient!

Quieter than the original. This is my 3rd unit. I originally had the 1st build indegogo pre purchase. This seems quieter. My most recent opal lasted 2 years with reverse osmosis water. Going to be better about descaling this one. Hopefully it will last longer. The last one got very noisy in the end.

This ice machine does exactly what it says it will. It makes awesome nugget ice to chew on. I can not stress how much I love this machine but it does come with a couple of issues that I thought I would point out. Issue # 1) The app for this machine is misleading and doesn't work well. You need the SmartHQ app from Haier US Appliance, not from GE in order to connect this to the app. The GE Profile Opal app is for the 1.0 machine with the single circular button on the top. Issue #2) The scheduling app doesn't work well at all. If you do not have the app opened on your phone, the scheduler will not work. You can turn the ice machine on and off through the app just fine when you launch it, but the scheduler will not turn on the icemaker unless it is opened on your phone. Issue #3) The side water tank doesn't work very well unless you keep moving it up and down to get enough air in it so that it can push down the water. I take the tank out until not a lot of bubbles are rising to the top anymore and then it works ok but it is annoying to see that "Add Water" alert on the machine while the tank is full. Other than that, everything else is great! Buy it, clean it when it tells you to and enjoy!
