We use the E55 on our patio and while doing outside chores, and it works great. The insect detractor liquid refill are expensive however, and recharging the battery requires a cable and external power source. Two improvements could be to reduce the cost of detractor refills, and maybe incorporate a solar charger.

To be honest I was quite skeptical, I've used many, many different mosquito repellents and the mosquitoes kept biting me and I get really bad reactions from their bites. Someone I know uses these products and said they work well, so I ordered one and the first time I used it I was sitting outside on my patio, I watched the mosquitoes come towards me, then all of a sudden turn around and fly away. I watched this happen over and over and not one reached me. Finally, I can actually go outside and use my firepit!

This unit is very good at keeping the bugs away. I don’t know about a 20 foot radius, but it lets me work outside during Mosquito and deerflies season. The but is that they sent the wrong charging cord. It requires a USB-C at the unit, but the charging cord they sent doesn’t have USB-C. I simply use my iPhone cord to charge it.

I found the item very unstable due to the rounded base and for a device designed to be placed on the ground in caravan parks and campgrounds, this is far from an ideal design. Then when it rolls over the very expensive liquid leaks out and as a result, I only got about 8 hours protection from an extremely expensive 40 hour refill. Furthermore, unlike other competitors, there is not simple way to hang it up, which would solve the unstable base issue. So it is a double whammy, with an unstable design allowing it to roll over easily and extremely expensive liquid gold repellent that is allowed to leak out once it has rolled over.

I used three of these under a 20' x 40' tent with open sides in a heavily mosquito-infested wooded area in Michigan in the evening of a very wet summer. People were getting destroyed the night before in this spot, but as soon as my Thermacells heated up, the bugs were just gone...all of them. With the perimeter up and running, any insect that wandered too close would literally fall out of the sky. They work incredibly well and I love not having to replace butane cartridges. It's also really convenient that the cartridges last 36 hours. If you have easy access to recharge them, these are the way to go.

I was so excited to get a Thermacell with longer battery life. It didn’t seem to be working; today I picked it up to recharge and there is oil everywhere. The first time, I thought it must have gotten knocked over accidentally. This time I know it wasn’t. So I have a half full 36 hour refill and a useless appliance.

Not sure how good it is in the long run, cause I only used it once just earlier, now mind you I live in texas, we have so many mosquitoes, and they love mine and my girlfriends blood so much, it's not even funny, but I set it up outside about 20 minutes before we went outside, and than me her and my sister were just outside for about and hour and a half, and no one got bit, not even once, nothing flying around us and messing with us, it was amazing. But usually we always have HUGE mosquitoes, and alot to, but yeah, absolutely nothing today, no spray, no smell, no sting, no problem.

So much easier to use than the ones with the pads and all. Takes a while to charge and seems like the radius to keep bugs away is not as much as the pad ones I have used. Gave it 4 stars only because of this because it is a pricey machine and the refills are expensive. Love how easy to use so will be purchasing more in the future for a bigger radius.

I set the Thermacell up in the gazebo at my lake lot. The gazebo already had a fair amount of mosquitoes in it as I had one side completely open for a few hours. After about 10 minutes I could actually see the exodus of mosquitoes from the inside of the gazebo. The occasional one would fly by the gazebo entrance but avoid coming in. One caveat, I did have Off sprayed all over me but when I was doing work outside the gazebo, that didn't ward them off so I doubt it aided in the success of Thermacell.

I'm a fan. I believe this really works. The proof? I get mosquitos bites if I stand in my front yard for more than 5 minutes. When I bring my Thermacell out into the backyard when I am raking and pulling weeds I can take up to an hour and I have zero mosquito bites. So, I do believe it works.
