The ice maker was easy enough to set up and it very quickly starred making ice. It comes with a filter that you can use if you feel it's needed. Great machine!

I wasn't sure the size of the cubes were ideal until I started using the machine. They are small consistent with the size your get at fast food restaurants. However they chill your drink evenly and are crunchable. If you like crushed ice without having to crush large cubes this device is for you. What I really like is you can make filter water ice cubes at home and the taste of the cubes are not compromised by sitting in the freezer %26 developing that freezer taste. Your drinks can be pure tasting. It takes a while to produce the ice but other than filling the reservoir it's totally automatic.

The nugget ice is super soft and chewable—kind of like the ice you get at Sonic. It makes drinks way more fun, whether it’s iced coffee or just plain water. Having owned an earlier version of this machine, I'm pleased to say that it keeps getting better...and it was already fantastic in earlier versions. The capacity has been expanded, the texture of the ice is "chewy ice" with the perfect density. For people with sensitive teeth who still like to chew ice, this ice maker is ideal. We use water from our water machine, making maintenance very easy as no build-up of minerals happens. We have found the size of the machine perfect for our beverage station and even when it is in production, it produces a LOT of ice without making noise to distract or interrupt conversations, reading, etc. We don't even notice it's there until we want amazing ice. This is not one of the cheap versions of an ice machine that only lasts a summer. It is a high-end appliance that elevates special cocktails, sodas, and even plain water. My primary motivation for always having this ice maker is that it helps me drink all of my daily water goal.

Mainly the seepage of liquid every time you open the bin. Also the spraying of water all over the ice (causing it to melt) every time you get any amount of ice from the bin. Requires constant wiping off of area around the icemaker every time you open the bin.

The nugget oval shaped ice is my favorite type of ice to use for drinks and this ice maker that is truly beautifully designed and blends in seamlessly with my kitchen. It enhances my kitchen counter and makes me somewhat proud to have around. I love how it’s not overly bulky and is a truly compact design. It just looks so elegant in my house and I can’t stop staring at it!! I genuinely think that GE has outdone themselves with this product. I’ve been using it for my iced coffee and drinks and my dogs love to chew ice and the nugget shape makes it easy for them to play around with, so it earns some thumbs up (paws up) from them! A really interesting feature is that apparently there’s built-in WiFi with the SmartHQ app to monitor device status and schedule fresh ice. It also comes software updates that include the access voice control through Alexa and Google, which is very impressive for an ice maker. I expect these kinds of features from a laptop, not my ice maker, so this is a definite nice surprise. It also comes with a side tank which was another added bonus, and makes it easier to get ice faster and more efficiently. The only thing that I’d callout is that the packaging says that it only takes 10 minutes to make fresh made ice, but their instructional video online says it takes about 20 minutes. I would agree with the video; upon initial installment it took closer to 20 minutes, but maybe after using it longer the machine will adapt and speed up to 10 minutes! This will be perfect for keeping the drinks chilled for summer barbecues. Overall, I’d give this a 9.4/10 as it’s a phenomenal ice maker; highly recommend people to try it out.

HI, I wish I could say no stars, but this is a lot of money for a product that lasted 1 year and 3 months. Cleaned and scaled every 10days . No warranty. Please please don't buy this. I have been on hold for a total of 9 hr the last 2 days for support and still haven't gotten through.

I was so happy to get my FIRST! Machine. It worked a while and I loved it. When it stopped no one could fix it. So I ordered another one! I knew it was going to be okay. But it lasted less time than the first one. I tried everything they recommended and finally had to give up hope. It still sits in my kitchen. I have a lot of money invested in 2 machines. I finally found another brand that is working great! Sorry about bad news. I so wanted to have the Opal. So I am sorry to say it is a waste of money.
