Takes a long time to brown the toast

The toaster is attractive; however, three of the four ports of the toaster toast slice bread only on one side! I don't know if the product was designed to perform this way or did something go wrong in the manufacturing process. Overall, I'm not impressed with the toaster. I expected more from a GE product.

I had high expectations for this toaster, given the high ratings and being from GE. Unfortunately, I returned it within days of receiving it. It does not toast both sides evenly – not even close, (see pictures). At the 4.5 setting, one side is dark and the other is very light. (No, it wasn't on the ‘bagel' setting.) Upon further inspection and testing only about half of the heating elements in all slots were glowing red and in a haphazard pattern. No wonder the toasting is inconsistent! Very disappointing.
