I've been purchasing the sourdough bread since since Sam's first offered it. Absolutely delicious! I couldn't get enough of it! For a long time it was only offered unsliced. The freshness and tanginess was the best. The last sourdough, sliced, that I bought tasted like ?Italian?. No sourdough tanginess at all. What happened?

Sam's Club sourdough was such a great find when they introduced it then became even better when they offered it in a sliced version BUT they have recently changed the recipe from using real sourdough starter to using a commercial wheat product and it no longer tastes like sourdough. This was once the best sourdough bread in our region of Pennsylvania BUT no longer. Please return to your original recipe or we will not be purchasing any longer. We went through three loaves a week.

Terrible! Had no taste and certainly not sourdough!!

Absolutely horrible I would give it 0 stars if I could! How is it even considered a sourdough bread if it no longer contains sourdough starter? New recipe tastes like plain old bread. No longer good! How unfortunate that something perfectly fine had to be changed.

After reading all the reviews of the "new recipe" sourdough bread, I was hoping they were wrong. I was a LONG time buyer of the "old recipe" bread and LOVED it. I somewhat agree with the reviews that it's not sourdough. Even so, it's a very good tasting bread. I do wish Sam's would go back to the old recipe, or the old supplier.

I wish Sam's Club would carry a better quality sourdough. I tried this one out of curiosity even though it contains low quality soybean oil, which is terrible. It was not good. I understand it's called sourdough but I've never had a sourdough that tasted extremely sour before. This was very sour. That combined with the seed oil and low quality ingredients, I would never buy this again. I buy nearly all my groceries at Sam's Club but I still have to go to Aldi to get their sliced sourdough which has 5 ingredients and is very clean, no oils. You don't need oil to make sourdough.

Within 2 weeks they changed the recipe and it is now hard, dense and awful. It doesn’t taste anything like the sourdough bread they had up until about a month ago. This is no longer sourdough bread and I won’t be buying it again until they get the old recipe back..

just as the majority off other reviewers noted, this WAS phenomenal Sourdough up until a couple of months ago...now its bad. It's a completely different recipe and it's a fraud now based on ingredients. I would rather pay more for the previous recipe/baker that eat this junk. Sam's, please...for the love of God, bring back the old recipe.

Yes, they did change the recipe and there is no sourdough starter and the bread taste like a dull regular bread. Doesn't even look like it rose in the oven. Please bring back the old recipe. It was so good, doesn't sam's club have someone to sample the bread before they put it out on the market. Taking it back for a refund.

So sad that the old sourdough is no longer here. I took one look and knew something was off. This new "sourdough " is not sourdough. Please bring back the original recipe. My 8 year old daughter even said the bread was not the same and had changed. So sad bc it was really one of the best products we looked forward to buying multiple times a week. Recipe seemed to have changed starting early April 2026. Bread in picture is the new "sourdough."
