The fan itself is quiet and gentle, not overpowering or annoying by any means. It catches the flies that we have issues with (the annoying black bug house flies that come in every single time the door opens). We live in a small house and I feel as if it works well in our living room and dining room areas. It is also attractive so I have no issue with this on our side table.

The challenging part of this device is the placement location. To maximize the effect, the device needs to be placed in a location that will intercept the insect’s projection path. Therefore, it is difficult to put it at the right location due to the insect's unpredictable flying pattern. I believe the idea of this contraption is not to purchase only one device but multiples devices to create a trapping mesh network, which can be quite expensive. Other than the placement location, the device works decently at catching insects.

It also works perfectly for little gnats and chigger or whatever you locally call the little insect that come after you. The light draws them in, the fan pulls them down and the sticky pad at the bottom keeps them down. As long as you can find an outlet or a usb, this thing works wonders!
