comfy and kid approved
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited when I received the Maxi Cosi Pria All in One Convertible Car Seat through the Stellar Product Testing Panel! The most important thing to say about this car seat is that it's definitely kid-approved. On her very first ride in it, my toddler fell soundly asleep -- and when she woke up at our destination she said, "this seat is so comfy!" So it's a success on that front. I also appreciated the no-nonsense installation with the latch system... and I love how easy the cup holders are to take out and clean. I do wish the seat wasn't quite so wide; we've got siblings that sit in the next seat, and they're a bit more crowded than they were with our last car seat. I also find the angle/placement of the button that loosens the shoulder straps to be a bit awkwardly placed; it's a bit hard for me to find when I'm fishing around for it under the fabric. But overall, this is a solid car seat. My little one DEFINITELY approves!
So soft and cozy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this car seat to try out through the Stellar product testing panel and we love it! I have a 3 year old son that we used the seat for. He didn’t met the weight requirement to forward face in this seat so we rear faced him and I wasn’t sure what he was going to think but he actually loved it. He said “it’s so cozy” and it looks cozy, the material is super soft and I already found it easy to clean after he got in with mud on his shoes it wiped clean really easily. My husband installed it and said it was easy to install but he was particularly pleased with how easy it is to uninstall. With our other seat you have to put your whole body into it to get it loose but this was super easy to uninstall which is nice if you need to move it from car to car. I love the versatility of this car seat. We can use it for an infant in the future all the way up to toddler and kid booster seat which is so nice, I don’t have to think about buying a new car seat for a while because this one will last through all the stages. Overall impression is super nice fabrics, easy to adjust/install, and versatile!
Great car seat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this car seat as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and overall I have been very happy with it. The all-in-one convertible design is convenient and makes it feel like a long-term investment as my child grows. The fabrics are very soft and cozy, and my child seems comfortable even on longer car rides. Installation was fairly straightforward, and I appreciated the clear instructions and adjustability to get a secure, proper fit. The seat feels sturdy and well made, which gives me confidence in its safety. I also like how easy it is to adjust the harness and headrest as needed. The only reason I am giving four stars instead of five is that the seat is a bit bulky and can take up more space in the car than expected. Other than that, it has been a great car seat and I would recommend it to parents looking for comfort, quality, and versatility.
3 out of 5 stars
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received the Maxi Cosi Pria All in One Convertible Car Seat and were thrilled to test it through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. We are just about ready to convert to an all-in-lone style car seat from our infant seat as our little one is getting a bit heavy to be transporting while still secured in the car seat. We currently have a seat that connects to the stroller. Everything was already assembled upon opening the box. A cozy, well padded, modern design complete with two cup holders. It’s a neutral light gray color fit to compliment any car design. We’ve recently leased a Volkswagen Tiguan as our Subaru Outback is very high in mileage. The dealer convinced us we would be happier with this vehicle at this stage of our little one’s life bc it has a lot of leg room in the back seat area. Making it ideal for car seat installation and accessibility. We tested the car seat out on our kitchen floor first. It’s easy to remove the infant inserts and to adjust the headrest as little one grows. It also has a reclining feature for optimal/safe positioning. After securing our 6 month old into the seat I realized how much more padding there is compared to our current infant seat. I’m slightly disappointed with our current seat as this extra padding would have been so much more ideal when our little one was an infant. Our little one seemed to be quite cozy sitting and playing with his crinkle book. He tends to fuss initially when we secure him in our current infant seat. I’ve often wondered if he’s uncomfortable. Not a peep while he was secured in the Maxi Cozi Pria! We then installed the seat in our Volkswagen. It didn’t take long. The most difficult part, while front facing, was latching to the car anchors. It just required a little bit of my weight in the seat for the clips to latch securely. My husband says it would be nice to have another inch or two to in the strap to work with but then I assume that would require a way to tighten the strap which would make it unsafe. There was plenty of leg room and our little one was easy to tend to. Rear facing on the other hand was not as ideal as it took up much more space once reclined, which require the front passenger seat to be pushed up. It left very little leg room for the front passenger. I’m not sure an adult would have been comfortable sitting in the front seat. So overall, installation is simple, but it’s too bulky of a seat if you intend on having a front passenger. We like how the cup holders are removable for easy cleaning. We like how cozy and padded the seat is. Which is a slight compromise I suppose compared to our current seat as ours is easier to wipe clean compared to the Maxi Cozi Pria that has softer fabric (which in turn is more absorbing….not good for those spit ups and blow outs!). If I were to use the Maxi Cozi Pria I’d probably try to use a seat liner. Overall I think we would rate it 3 out of 5, mostly bc of the space it takes up when rear facing. Front facing is fine in our Volkswagen. It’s a tighter fit, but still do-able, in our Subaru. 5 out of 5 on easy installation, coziness/padding/safety, and overall color/look. 3 out of 5 for bulky design.
A strong car seat option for the long haul
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I immediately noticed how soft and plush the material was upon unboxing. My one-year-old kiddo can be a bit squirmy, so I was relieved to see material that would be gentler and forgiving on their skin. Installation took me under 5 minutes using the included anchor system, even without a second set of hands. My toddler is a bit on the taller side, and the adjustable headrest and quick-release shoulder straps gave us a secure fit without feeling too cramped. This car seat strikes an even balance of being sturdy and not overly-heavy, which makes moving it and our other car seats around much less of a hassle. My child is currently rear-facing, but I love how this seat will be able to grow with them to both forward-facing and eventually into a booster. One noticeable drawback I’ve experienced is the plastic base can feel slippery on my sedan’s older leather seats, though once fully installed it remained secure during normal driving.
Comfortable convertible car seat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this product by the Stellar Product Testing Panel to try out in exchange for my honest opinion. The Maxi Cosi Pria is very comfortable for my infant and I love that it’s convertible so it can continued to be adjusted and used as she grows. The install did not initially feel as straightforward as I hoped but with some time and effort I was able to get a tight fit. Adjusting the seat to fit my child was very simple. My biggest cons would be that I do wish the weight limit for rear facing for this carseat was 50lbs instead of 40lbs and I found that at the most reclined level, which is needed for my child, it was somewhat tight fit even in our truck.
Comfortable seat and easy to set up mostly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I have a newly 3 year old who is rear facing and a 9 year old who is in a booster seat. Both kiddos agreed the seat was comfortable and it fit them well. The padding on the seat is super squishy and thicker than any of the other seats we have had for the boys and they loved it. The instruction manual was easily the best laid out, so easy to follow, and one I never threw across the room in frustration. Add to that the seat itself was so easy to adjust and convert. I have nerve damage in my hands and I have the worst time with hand strength. The tilt lever on our others took an act of god to engage and then a linebacker to actually move into the position you needed. This one I was able to do one handed! I was delighted! Raising the head, moving the buckle, undoing the cloth was so easy. I was shocked. No anger here! Usually I have to take breaks so I don’t have a menty B. No so with this one. The conversion to booster was quick and mostly painless. Now let’s get to the negatives. I can’t use it as a booster in my suv since I can’t remove the headrest. There isn’t a place to store the buckles when it is converted to the booster or the instructions in the actual seat itself. The seat is so big and fluffy it makes it hard for my 9 year old to put the seat belt in. He almost tipped over and I had to click it for him. Putting the seatbelt through the rear facing slot was extremely difficult for one person to put through so it could be a more difficult to move from one car to another so I would not enjoy it if we only had one between both cars. But once in it was very secure. I really like this seat overall and would recommend to anyone looking for a new seat. Whomever wrote the instructions and whomever designed the conversion process need raises and need to be hire to do it for everything!
Great car seat
I bought this car seat 3 years ago for my daughter and now I’m buying it again for my new little one. I love the fact that you can take out the fabric parts and put in the washing machine. I’ve washed the parts of my daughters car seat for the past 3 years and it’s still holding up and going strong without any issues of the material ripping or showing signs of wear (maybe since I use a washing machine without an agitator).
You get what you pay for
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The first thing I noticed when opening the box was that the seat did not come with a user manual. I'm sure one is probably available online, but personally I hate having to go search online for everything and have my phone out fumbling with a screen that keeps timing out while trying to install a seat. Basic installing of a car seat isn't something you have to have a manual for, but figuring out all the little things for strap adjustment is definitely easier with a manual instead of trying to figure it out by playing around with it. The bottom buckle release was large and easy to unbuckle, yet my younger kids couldn't easily get it open on their own. The metal clips are slightly hooked at the ends and look like they'd hold well in an accident. The top chest clip is quite chunky but also looks like better quality than the usual thinner styles. The belt loosening part is easy to get the straps loosened quickly and the issues I've had with other car seats belts getting uneven seems to have been solved by their design, so that's a plus. The head height adjustment seemed rather stiff when adjusting it, but perhaps this will loosen with use. I also really liked that the rear facing anchor clips can clip to the seat itself when not in use. Definitely a nice little addition. The fabric is soft and plush and the cupholders remove for easy cleaning, which is nice. I do think the seat feels rather wide for my youngest (4 mo old, 17 lbs, see picture) but my other kids (8, 5, 3) had enough room width wise to be very comfortable. My children are all extremely tall and skinny for their age. I worry my oldest will outgrow this seat more quickly than his current carseat because the head adjustment is as high as it goes and seemed barely tall enough for his height (47" tall, see picture). Pictures included are of my 4 mo old, 3 yr old and 8 yr old. Some things I didn't like as much were the lack of recline positions. My current seats have about 7 different recline settings to get it just right for each vehicle, but this seat only has 3 recline positions. Installing the belt through the back of the seat for forward facing was more difficult because you have a very narrow cavity to thread your hand and the seatbelt through. My husband would definitely have an even harder time installing it and his hands aren't particularly large for a guy. There also isn't a way to wind up the excess belt length from the back anchor strap so it just hangs loose everywhere. A rubber band over it works, but then it's an extra thing I have to keep track of. This seat also is more difficult to adjust the strap height (for shoulder height). You have to remove the seat, unstrap the belts from the underside and rethread everything, which is a bit of an extra fuss. Overall this seat seemed to be average quality. It certainly felt like a 'you get what you pay for' deal as far as features are concerned. If you want a car seat with all the fancy features, this is not for you, but if very basic yet comfortable is your goal, then this seat could be a good fit. I will probably use it as a backup seat for my mom to have in her vehicle if she wants to take a kid somewhere, but I personally wouldn't buy it as my main seat. Definitely not the best option if you move seats from vehicle to vehicle a lot.
Snug as a bug
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Saftey and comfort are often the 2 most important factors when looking for a car seat. The Maxi Cosi Pria All-in-One Car Seat checks those boxes. It can literally grow with them from infant up to a 100lb child! The seat is one whole peice, with easy to remove padding, 3 rear-reclining options and cup/snack holder on each side. Installation took less than ten minutes from box to car. Size adjustments are super simple with a push of a button to adjust straps and by lifitng the handle at the top. The reclining feature helps keep little heads safe and in place when in the rear position. Snack and cup holders on each side of the seat proved valuable for long care rides. Having an independent 18 month old able to get their cup and snack within reach ials okay with me! Now while this seat really is the bees knees, it's not without it's flaws. Mainly for us, the straps often twist and get a bit turned in the snap part. It's a fixable issue, but one that happens often and is a bit annoying. It'll take that problem though because if the straps are positioned correctly, the child is snug and comfy. That alone gives me good peace of mind so I'll deal with the twists. It's only exacerbated by added winter gear. My family and I are very grateful to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for gifting us this Maxi Cosi Pria All-in-One Car Seat. It’s truly a blessing.
