I am giving GE a 3 because I have only this product a day and you are already asking me to review it. I am also giving GE a 3 because their last microwave which was model#JES1657DM1WW was installed on 7/1/20 and it lasted until 2/14/25 where it had an electrical problem which caused it to start on its own when it was plugged in. I'm not sure what the average life of a microwave is today but I am not impressed.

Functionality: We are very happy with this microwave oven and all the features. Our last GE microwave oven lasted over 10 years and was great. I think this oven will be just what we need to fill our needs of a microwave oven. Capacity is just the right size for our needs. Controls are great and all that we need. Dimensions fit the space that we need. Power is just the right wattage for our needs.

Seems to be well built and looks nice gives me hope it will give good service time will tell. The control panel design is good I do wish it had a backlight for low light use. The chime is good not to loud or soft and pleasant. Seems to produce heating power in line with the specs with what appears to be even heating. I will test the power output with a a bowl of water and temperature measurements a simple physics experiment. One small issue the plastic feet slide on a smooth counter top these should be a rubber material.

I installed this unit a few days ago, so this is an initial impression. I generally go to "CR" for recommendations on appliances, and the GE of this size was middling rated. I first purchased a highly rated unit, which failed after two days and was returned; that brand also felt very cheap and plastic-y. I went to "BB" to look at other brands, and the GE was heavier (more metal, less plastic), and the door mechanism was far superior than the others on display. TBH, no microwave oven heats evenly, so my main concern was quality of build, and the GE felt much more solid than the others. Time will tell on how well this unit holds up, but I'm initially very pleased.

I bought this to replace an older unit that was with the house when purchased several years ago. Difficult to find one that fit well in the cabinet (didn’t have room for a trim piece). This one is a perfect fit all around. It functions well, heats up hotter on lower settings, the buttons are intuitive and it’s interior is much larger than my former one. To say I am thrilled is an understatement.

What a great looking little work horse. This micro cooks food fast. You really get a lot of bang for the buck. The material seems pretty durable so far ( I have the item for one month at the time of this review) and it's metal and glass not plastic. Love that there is an indicator beep to remind you that there is something in the microwave. I'm very happy with the purchase.

The first one we bought stopped working after two uses. We bought the "black stainless"but it didn't match our other black stainless appliance from GE...it was more of a silver color. It wasn't near my other appliances, so it wasn't a big deal. But when it stopped working, we returned it and purchased the same microwave in black. This one is working fine, but it has an odd sound for the first few seconds and it really runs loud. Just wondering how long this one will last?!?! If it gives trouble, I will not buy GE again.

Cons: Door is loud when closing. While child safety feature of having to press an additional button before being able to open the door is great for families with children, it’s a pain for those of us that do not have any children. Pros: Heats up better than the previous microwave. So it’s powerful. It’s quiet; not noisy like the previous microwave. The capacity is perfect for my needs. The design is modern. The controls are easy to use.

We have had the same microwave for over 15 years of constant use and abuse!! Finally she gave out and purchased the same model! A few new options have been added but still the same quality of a GE! Here’s to another 15 years! Just might out last us!!!

Purchased this s GE 1.6 cu ft microwave to replace our Sharp 1.8 cu ft unit. Unfortunately, GE didn’t have a 1.8 sized unit available to fit our existing built-in cabinet cavity. Appears to be a sturdy & hopefully durable machine. However, the LED display isn’t as bright as our other kitchen appliances with LED displays. Very dim, especially at night time.
